What a struggle things have been with the whole covid situation. In my area, the district decided to make it mandatory to wear masks as of today (Friday the 24th). This has brought up a lot of commotion to those that want to fight for their rights to decide, to those that think their freedom is being taken away by those that don't want to wear masks to fights with people that say they can't wear a mask and people saying they are big babies.
I for one, believe that we should have the right to govern our own selves properly. Admitting that some people don't take things responsible enough, but this goes to show where society has failed to educate people properly. It is our responsibility to help these people understand and not rely on an untruthful government that sees us and money signs.
This and music has helped me paint an image that represents how I have been feeling about humanity and its chaos.
Using earth tones to represent the earth, we are bound to the earth and we are forgetting that which is why I used the colors like this.
The next thing I did was run dark green and black mixed with water on the top of the canvas, giving that goopy mess, a bleeding of the earth.
I really got pulled into the painting and music, so much that I forgot to take more pictures of the process, I apologize for that. Here is one of the songs that pulled me in, fast forward to 1 minute as the intro is long:
If you read the lyric translation and generalize it to all the worlds population, culture, it would seem to be pretty fitting for this painting... except for the royal power, we can go without it lol.
When I finally snapped out of it and thought of taking a picture, I was almost done. This shot was at night and without natural lighting it looks darker. I painted a skull, mind you there is very little detail but for a reason. The skull is a bit transparent, the message behind this is our humanity is fading away with all these fighting and all the fear that we allow to happen. We fear our neighbors, we fear our family members, we lost trust, and have become more chaotic.
The masks... the famous mask here dies with our humanity but is not faded like the skull. It is ripped to show the hardships, and it stays behind solidly, showing the many masks that are being thrown away littering the ground. The mask solidly hides our faces and we become silent and obeying what goes against our natural beings. We are shut down. The camo painting on the mask is the government pushing on these rules and laws so much, creating fines for not obeying thus putting more fear into the people, testing people, abusing people, killing people.
The final image of the painting, the screw in the skull is the people being drilled blindly from the media, what throws everything out of proportion. The green ooze leaking out is the virus, making everyone sick, even those that are not infected making us sick in the head.
The splash coming from the skull and lower, our overwhelming emotions exploding to surface, the gun shots, the virus, the deaths that came from and the deaths wrongful claimed under the virus just so that the numbers climb.
I took a picture of the painting the day after to show the natural lightning.
I'm thinking I like the darker image better but they are both good.

Sho! What amazing imagery. We are mandated to wear masks. All over the country. I am prepared to accept it: I don't want to breathe in the virus from someone else. If I have it, I don't want to give it to someone. And, in this country, mask-wearing is the least of the issues we've got with what this government is doing in handling the situation. I have another rant brewing. My last Covid rant was at the beginning of June....

I hear ya with the whole government thing, it's gone to shit everywhere. Some places are worse than others but Canada itself is falling apart. I don't know a whole lot about politics but I know people that do and whats to come is not good. I'm sure things on your side of the world wont be the greatest either :(
