The ocean sunset. Master class about oil painting for beginners

For starters, we take a conventional prima donna canvas from an art shop. Unfortunately, the priming of the canvas industry leaves a lot to be desired, and often the colors are "fragrant" in such canvas and do not hold plasticity.

To avoid this, I usually paint the canvas again. But not this time, because the choice of technology to me unexpected, and we enjoy what is in hand. And the primary in our backup is not there. Therefore, to prepare the canvas for oil painting, we only wet it with diluents, where we paint the painting (in our case it is mixture: turpentine - varnish dammar - linseed oil).

We write landscapes, which means you must first define the horizon and the light source.

Then we gradually make the stretch of color in the sky: from yellow to blue.

There are a million ways and techniques for stretching and color transitions. I usually use this method: I spread two colors on the canvas, then I take a lighter tone on the brush, I make it a little brighter than the one on the canvas, and I use a cross-stitch brush to combine these two colors. white, grab the yellow edges of the image alternately, then blue.

Further movement of the flute light you can even paint.

Then we add clouds to the sky. Closer to the horizon, they are orange from the sun, and higher in the sky becomes more purple. If you make light reflexes along the edge of the cloud, this will give them volume and transparency, and add air to the image.

Next, continue by prescribing the sea. At the sea reference is quite dark, so take the middle color (look for the sea color between the glare and the shadow of the waves) and cover the water chamber.

Two waves that will be transparent, we still ...

... Then immediately register them with the green color that the waves throw into the sunset.

And add a dark color to the depths of the waves, give a shadow.

We add a reflex kaleidoscope and sky glow. For greater contrast and glare sensations, it is better to write a strip of reflex light just above the shadow of the waves.

And in this romantic sunset setting we placed a ship with a red screen.
