My Process of Creating

First, let me say that I have spent an hour trying to figure out why each photo starts in the right direction then immediately goes sideways. WTF? So, sorry about the photos. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone recently asked me what I do to get started on a painting. I thought I would do a post explaining the process. It is never the same for me when I start a painting. I am organic in my thinking and really don't know what I am creating until I am completely enveloped in it. I love color and I love vibrant. I paint in high contrast colors and I am unpredictable. Even I don't know where the painting will go until it's done.

So, here are the usual steps to my creative flow. The key for me is to not think too much and just let things come to me.

Here are my steps,

  1. Put on a pot of coffee.
  2. Grab a canvas, used or new. No matter.
  3. If it's new, I start applying paint or do a bit of pencil drawing to outline my idea.
  4. If it's used, start slapping a color down and fill it up with a base color. I used a new canvas for this painting.
I call this collection "Conspiracy Chickens".
  5. Take many breaks, maybe weeks or months. Come back to it when inspired.

This idea took flight when I started daydreaming about all the conspiracies of the world today and how hilarious it would be to get my 4 beautiful and entertaining chickens involved. Little did they know that they would become my muses.

This one features a "Tommy Lee Jones" style CIA or FBI guy. Obviously, some aliens have come around to check out the coop. The sun seems to be more like a giant glittery bouncy ball...sort of real.
I have so much fun with these paintings. Just going with the flow.

I love metallic blue and gold paint and this one has quite a bit on the aliens' ship. Just a cool color.
I thought having a retro ship (looks like something from the USSR in the 50's) would just be funny. I mean, aliens should have the lightest and most streamlined UFO but not these guys. A crappy version. They are probably teen aliens that stole their parent's old ride. HAHA
So, you know a little about how my mind works. All of my paintings follow a similar path. If I love it, I usually give it away and if I hate it, it gets painted over and I start again.

Enjoy life. Just be. Be love.
This was my first original attempt at Chicken #3

Do you paint? I would love to see the process. If you are a pro with putting photos on Steemit, please share here so others can learn. Thank you.
