This is outstanding, @scrawly ! Each petal looks perfect * ___ * I love how you painted the petals away from the center with less definition, because this brings into focus the petals near the head into even better contrast and highlight :)

Umm a lot of waiting for water to dry, some more patience and teeth gnashing when applying paint at difficult parts of the picture, and a little of luck. I think that's the ingredient to make this picture. I like how soft it is and I'm happy with the result but I feel that there's something missing. Ah well, I have a noisy brain so I should ignore it from time to time.

You grow roses? Ahhh that's so wonderful. There are beautiful gardens in my neighbourhood so I get to see these wonderful flowers every time I pass by. I love roses, so I'll definitely draw more of them.

How did you make your signature go from pencil to white? Does the paint around it not get affected when you erase the graphite? Clever trick if so.

Very cool painting, @scrawly, but once again, I think the lack of contrast between the rose petals and the background hurt this design a little bit.

It will probably look better with a background, but I was pretty happy with the finished rose and didn't want to mess it up. If it's digital, I would have tried making a background but with traditional media, sometimes I feel it's better to stop before making a mess.
