Witness Updates
With the price of STEEM still so low, we had another power-down on October 22. This is the second time we've had to do a small (one week) power down to help pay for the witness server. Instead of returning the extra funds from that one-week power-down, we saved them... to pay for this month's witness server too! See? We can be smart. 🤓 But, fair warning, when the bill rolls around next month, we may need to do the same thing again.
Other than that, the server has been smooth sailing.
Helpiecake Curation Team (The Bakers)
❤️This is the heart of Helpie.❤️ We 'bake' posts by curating and sending a bit of cake and love to all those who are going above and beyond... and need a little boost. I really think that manual curation is the most rewarding. And now that I (@carrieallen) am spending a couple of hours a day on it, it's less of a chore and more of something I look forward to! There's so much amazing content here to consume!

This month we 'baked' 954 posts! That's all manual, baby!
Last month we curated 1049 posts... that's almost a hundred less than last time! As I said, it's been a bit quiet...
We have channels and bots set up (thanks @eonwarped ! ) in our private Helpie Discord server to make it super easy to submit posts to be Helpiecaked (yes, I've made it a verb). It even tags the person who baked the post! Oh! And now there's a Spanish bot for the Spanish posts too! 😍
And... we have a group of AMAZING curators (and creators too) who spend time looking for those lost gems.

How to access your HELPIE tokens (or any tokens on Steem-Engine)
The easiest way to view, send and receive any steem-engine tokens is via the browser add-on called KEYCHAIN, created by Witness #1 on the STEEM blockchain, @ yabapmatt.

Not only are you able to easily deal with all your tokens, but KEYCHAIN stores multiple STEEM account passwords and keys for you. It's completely safe. I've stopped a few times over helpie and Pal and it was so quiet... I blame myself too, honestly i've not had the time for discord AT ALL, but now rescuing my own deserted server (mostly to open it to patrons too) been around a bit more, Thanks always to the curators too.

Hm... Maybe it’s because I’m new here, but I don’t really understand what most of this means! But I see that helpiecake account all over the place, and it seems friendly, not to mention all the nice cake photos it posts haha :-)

Hi!
Basically, Helpie was created as a community of ... helpers who are generally wonderful people. We power up and use our combined love to share around. Helpiecake was invented to do even MORE of that. Basically, helpiecake is the trigger for the larger account. If you are a 'Baker' (curator) you have access to the 'Kitchen' (channels where you drop posts to be upvoted and 'get cake' and chat with other curators).
There aren't any rules aside from "Be nice" and "Give cake (upvotes) to those who truly are doing a great job... or just need some encouragement".
If you are in Discord, you should definitely join a community or two. It's a crazy ocean out there, helps to have friendly fishes about. 🐟
I'm new to steem and the msp community but I've been talking in there with a few people. Even though it is quiet it's still a fun place to be. I'm still not sure what I'm all doing on steem aside from upvoting content I like and posting my own stuff the odd time.
