Pseudo Macro: Polygonia faunus

in #palnet5 years ago

This little butterfly should be one with the name Polygonia faunus.

Polygonia faunus

The photos are pseudo macros, which I made with the Sigma 150-600mm telephoto zoom lens, and not with a dedicated macro lens.

Every now and then there are butterflies that do not flutter from flower to flower, but sit quietly on a leaf.

One could almost assume, that the little butterfly is resting from a fight, which he hopefully did not have with the ant that's on the other leaf.

Because of the sun, the places shine bright, where the scale layer (butterfly dust) of the butterfly has been affected, and is not so dense anymore.

Thank you so much for resteeming my post, dear @pixresteemer.

These are excellent macro shots, they can be called whatever you like, a pseudo-macro shot, or, otherwise, but the essence remains, this is a picture with a large scale of a small object. You, my Dear friend @Johannpiber, had a very successful hunt! Your photo howitzer))), proved to be excellent!
Good night to you. my friend!

Thank you so much my friend :)
I photograph butterflies very seldom, because I am too slow, and I am to unpatient to sit somewhere and wait for longer than a few minutes. So, I am glad, that this little fellow did not fly away. Maybe he was tired or it was too hot to fly, or he just dd not see me, because with the long lens I cannot come closer than 2.8 meters :)

I wish you a nice evening and a good night too, my friend @barski :)

Even though this butterflies wings are damaged it is still so beautiful and that lens does great Pseudo Macros I must say
you sure seem to be having fun with it

Thank you so much JJ, I didn't think, these photos would be any sharp, but it seems I was holding the camera steady ... or the flower was shaky like me ;)

it looks to me like you were handling that huge lens so well they look so sharp :)

3 out of 300 😎 lol
I made about 10 shots, the butterfly didn't move and no wind blew - I was lucky 😄

With that huge lens and butterflies getting 3 good shots is amazing no matter how many shots you took

I have counted - exactly 10 shots with 3 good ones, that's not too bad, but as I said: the butterfly didn't move, the plant didn't move ... and the image stabilizer corrected me ;)

The poor little butterfly does, unfortunately, look a little worse for wear. He is still beautiful though:)

I like butterflies very much, because they are so beautiful, and I hate them, because they don't want me to photograph them - they sit down on a flower, wait until I am ready to photograph, and then they fly to the next flower.
They don't collect nectar or pollen, they just wait for me LOL

Howdy sir johannpiber! Butterfly dust? Never heard of that before. So you can use your big lens as a macro lens?

In German we call the scale layer "Schmetterlingsstaub", which is translated "butterfly dust" :)))
This is, why it is called "pseudo macro", because they are not real macros, but look like macros, because I can go as close as possible to the subject (about 2.8 meters) and the photo then looks like a macro ;)

Oh I see, thanks so much for the explanation sir johannpiber, that's very interesting!

Wonderful macro photo of the little butterfly!

Thank you so much, I am always happy, when someone tells me, she or he likes my photos 😄😄😄
