This was my favorite day at Torrey Pines on the record.
The wind speed was perfect. 15 MPH. The direction of the wind was NW. So it was a little cross.
On of the cool things about this sport is that you rely on the weather in order to have a good time.
In this pic you see a student learning to kite with a small wing.
I love the fact that you can launch from the ground flying an airplane that you carried in a backpack.
This sport is a game changer with out a doubt.
So many times I am looking at live differently. It really is what it feels like to be a bird.
Today I am going to practice landing on this box.
The wind is a little strong for this to be an easy feat.
We share the air with Hanglider pilots, and RC planes.
@allenthoe was doing a SAT in this picture.
Lets get back to the practice.
I was getting closer every attempt.
You have to watch out because there are aircraft everywhere.
At this point I was telling Tony that one of the other guys landed at the beach. The wind direction was too cross.
There were only a couple places were the wind direction was strait up the face.
I was using every bit of the lift to stay aloft.
Lets take another shot at the goal.
Amazing views.
At one point in the video I was levitating.
Levitation happens when your airspeed meets your groundspeed and the lift is 250ft per minute.
Its a dangerous maneuver because you are deep in the brakes and dangerously close to stall point.
It feels so cool tho.
At this point I was about to land on the box.
On my seventh attempt I got it.
@allenthoe blocked me on this one.
This was my first wing bump mid air.
I really feel like I learned a lot durning this flying trip.
It was not easy but I landed it.
I did my first wing slide.
It looks cool in the video.
See Video Below
Sweet! Can I do it? Let me get back to ya on that.
Is it too hard to land on a particular place? Seems that way. Good luck on your new training.
Its is a bit hard to spot land when the wind is strong and gusty. Its a great time to learn tho.
oh...I see...
Awesome photography sir.
