This was another memorable XC flight. @paleotreats, Tony B, Mike, Pat and my self took to the rather strong air in southern california.
I had to go into work after hours earlier that week, so I was able to leave early and go fly.
Its is nice to leave early because the traffic is light leaving down town.
The plan was to get on launch early because the winds were supposed to be light.
When we got to launch there was some pretty strong gusts of wind blowing up the face.
The wind was blowing strong, but it was manageable. So we gave it a go.
After a quick test of the winds, I came back in to turn on my instruments.
The landing was good, but I had a hard time kiting. Its not always a good idea to be trying to land when the wind is strong.
The strongest thermal that I found was 500 ft per minute lift.
Came back in for a landing one more time.
Not a great idea.
Clark Kent (Randy) made me a shirt! Thanks randy!
Launched again. Seems like the day was shaping up to be great.
Pat and Mike took off to El-Cap. While @paleotreats, and Tony got everything together.
Once I reached 2200 ft above sea level, I headed over to the great El-Cap my self.
Looking down from 2k is so humbling.
This is a good picture of the camping spot!
After flying around for about an hour, we headed back to the launch.
It is super fun to have someone with you when you fly across.
I think it has something to do with the green stuff growing everywhere, but there seemed to be lift everywhere you went.
The Go-Pro died, and I found my self scratching low.
I ended up landing at the bottom of the hill...
I think Pat felt bad, and came an joined me for the hike.
You enjoy life very much. These things are so much fun.
No doubt about it.
This is a lot of fun.
just amazing
