RE: Dark, Disturbing and Somewhat Horrible, the History and Origins of Nursery Rhymes #1: 🐭Three Blind Mice 🐭

in #parenting7 years ago

I'm really looking forward to more installments in this series. These do make a person stop and think about what people are casually teaching young children about the human condition. All the stories about giants and witches and kids getting roasted in ovens scared the daylights out of me when I was little.

Psychologists have speculated that it reflects the exasperation and resentment some parents feel when they discover babies, toddlers and young children are a whole lot of trouble and aggravation. All that stuff about "sweetness and light" is a a racket to keep the species procreating. (As the oldest child in a family whose mother wasn't one bit interested in "parenting" ... I learned real young that I never wanted kids!! I studied psychology instead!!)

Anyway, as I was assembling TDWS a few nights ago, your post made its way into my new curation project The Inbox Runneth Over. You can find your post showcased at this link.

Meanwhile, we are looking at ways to boost your ongoing success in Steemit. After some discussion between us last night, @catweasel and I hit on a plan. See that little treasure in your upvote list from brains? That's from us. (Ironic pairing, isn't it? We didn't make that selection. It happened while it was out of our hands.)

But, that's how we decided to reward the content providers in The Inbox Runneth Over. It more than exhausts our own shared SP trying to keep up with all you guys ... so I recruited some elf and fairy spirit helpers to act on our behalf. We hope you approve. Don't spend it all in one place. Keep writing. I'm waiting.
