RE: Benign Neglect in Parenting

in #parenting7 years ago

I don't mean letting your three year old use sharp knives and the stove while you lay on the couch doing crystal.

The truth. I love your fire so much mama! Man, when you talk about enabling, my mom did that to me. Even try to do my homework for me, and live my life. My dad let me learn, and made me work for everything. I think I turned out alright!

I don't like enablers, and you aren't wrong. There are so many young adults with zero life skills. Learning sooner over later definitely applies here. Smothering your loved ones only makes them dependent, and in relationships can be seen as a form of abuse.

You are there for your children no doubt, but you fully understand the importance of them learning responsibility! Learning about motherhood, is gonna be useful.

It's really hard to stop yourself from doing for your kids. Wanting your kids to succeed is a powerful urge. You just have to think long term. It's good you had a balance because you have turned out pretty awesome, I think.
I really love both millennials and z's, but many of their parents made life so much harder. Of course the education system doesn't help. It's just so much easier to learn that shit when you don't have bills to pay.

Hey mama <3

I'm looking forward to the day that I can finally understand a mom's love for myself! Not too much of a rush though c; I think that the education is shot in a lot of regards, but I feel like our public school system in the islands might be a little different, at least- when I was growing up!

Everything is easier with no bills!~

Being a mom is the best gig ever. Also the hardest. For sure, take your time.
