Many of our parents and grand parents left the village, came to township and made something for themselves. Those that are educated, 90% had to find a way to fund themselves and the result is obvious today. This guys have been in position of Authority since their 20s till date.
My dad trained himself through school up to his masters level. By the time he was in his late 20s he had a car and his own house... You hear parents saying things like I dont want my child to suffer what I suffered but the result is that we are a weak and dependent generation. Nothing pains me like when a man in his early forties is referring to a man in his late twenties as a child. And today majority of young people see themselves as children. I see a lot of young people going back to school for their masters program because their parents feel that is what is best for them.
But you must end this if you are to grow. If you are to be a man and take your place as an adult in the society. You must learn to be independent. And you cannot be independent without financial independent. You must and be ready to earn your own keep.
I have a theory, he has gold makes the golden rule. The older generation have been making all the rules because they have gold. It is time for us to have our gold. All we have to do is look to the world and see what our age mates are achieving. Mark Z founded facebook when he was just 20years old. The founder of dropbox was just 33years. Even @Ned the founder of steemit is young.
As young people, we have a responsibility to be independent. Especially financially independent if we are to ever have a chance to influence the policies governing our country Nigeria.
Well said.
