Cardano (ADA) has its community buzzing after the revelation of two updates on its elaborate roadmap.
The founder of Cardano and CEO of IOHK Charles Hoskinson announced the new releases ahead of schedule, catching the community by surprise.
He commented on the ongoing Prometheus project before revealing that a new update called Icarus was ready. Later on, the team dropped another big announcement about a secret project called Yoroi.
Hoskinson preceded his announcement with an optimistic view of the market. His comments related to the volatility in the crypto industry. He said that though the slump was unsettling, it was all part of the industry’s growth.
The IOHK boss made it known that the project had devised a long-term strategy. It was on track to achieving its ideas within the blockchain space. He also reassured the community that the Cardano team focuses on the platform’s development.
The Cardano project updates are a part of the platform’s roadmap, which is one of the most elaborate in the blockchain industry.
What Is Project Icarus?
Cardano states that Icarus is a “reference implementation for lightweight wallets.”
The IOHK is to release the Icarus implementation, making it easier for developers to build customized wallets for Cardano (ADA).
Icarus is a Google Chrome extension designed to offer the community a user-friendly alternative to Cardano’s Daedalus wallet. However, the wallet has those features that make Daedalus a great wallet- easy to use and fast.
Icarus integrates Javascript and Rust simplifying the development of both mobile and desktop wallets. Therefore, it is a project that makes it possible for third parties to develop a variety of wallets for the platform.
The lightweight wallet will not download the entire Cardano blockchain, offering users the advantage of transaction speed.
The project is open source and secure, with the user private keys encrypted.
The IOHK says that on release, the Icarus source code will enable the ADA community to develop wallets, easily integrating with the Cardano blockchain. It is a move that will see Cardano move towards full decentralization
What Is Yoroi?
The special announcement on Cardano’s roadmap refers to Yoroi as a Desktop Wallet.
Like Icarus, Yoroi is also a Chrome extension. It is a light-client wallet developed by Emurgo, one of the development teams for the Cardano project.
The desktop wallet is an easy-to-use, fast and secure alternative to the platform’s Daedalus wallet.
Yoroi is the first wallet for Cardano built using the Icarus reference implementation.
A beta version of Yoroi that connects to the Cardano testnet is now available on Chrome. Cardano users can download it and experience how fast and easy it is to set it up. The final version of Yoroi wallet will be ready for release in mid-September.
Both Icarus and Yoroi are still under development, but the news of their release could have an impact on the Cardano blockchain in terms of rate of adoption and the value of its native ADA token.
There is a lot going for Cardano that it’s easy to identify with the optimism around the community. It is no doubt that this is a great project and one that will likely be highly successful, especially with the advice of IOHK and Emurgo.
It is thus correct to say that ADA is one of the most undervalued tokens whose price will definitely rise they achieve milestones on the roadmap.
At the moment ADA is trading at $0.098 against the US dollar. It has gained about 3.95 percent in the last twenty-four period. It has also gained about 2 percent against BTC.
Cardano is the 9th largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of 2.56 billion.
