I am of the opinion most media reported crime is made up to sell newspapers/ad space. I'm not saying real crime isn't reported in the media, but if it has good quality imagery, interviews with the victims, background history, it's soap opera. Much easier to make it up than pay researchers to go out and news gather, especially when in reality, victims of real crime would tell them to 'fuck off!'. If they create it, they own the copyright, and that's what the media is really all about.
While I agree with you regarding Blair and Brown's Britain, I don't believe crime in the UK is currently on the rise, at least not the crime that is recorded in crime statistics. If we cease connection to the media and take real life as our barometer we will soon conclude this is the safest nicest place to live, and that's because it is (and why all the high end criminals hang out here, they know they're not going to be lynched). The people behind the government need to justify its existence and they love robbing the people, they are the main perpetrators of crime in the UK, and this crime isn't found in statistics.
We all need to be more discerning and understand the media is the world of green-screen fakery, layer masking and key frame tracking. We also have to train our eyes to detect people on tv wearing prosthetics to hide their true identity (that's basically all of them). Once you do, you'll start to realise what a fake world tv and online news is.
Kenny Everett was telling us the truth. Fake jaws, fake breasts, fake people (including himself), they were just a bit more honest about it in his day...
Sorry to piss on your parade, while I totally agree this stuff is designed to reduce personal freedom (and tax us to the hilt), the people responsible are in control and always have been. They create all the players, the villains and the heroes. Tommy Robinson is no more real than Alan Partridge, and that's a fact. I would imagine the only increase in real crime is pilfering at work, because if you treat your personnel as human resources expect them to have no loyalty. Reap what you sow.
I'm tired of this bullshit, it's tedious once you've worked out the plot. It's time for all of us to say, enough is enough.
I'm very glad to see such a thoughtful comment from a new account. You should add these material and make them into blog posts. I think Nightcrawler (2014) and UnReal TV series really nailed the current media landscape. You might want to check out those two.
