This highlights my thoughts pretty well

Basically I see a lot of speculation and biased proofs being presented as fact when only really propping up their own narrative.

Now I do believe it is something we should be aware of and myself practice things to try reduce waist for sustainability not focused on carbon footprint per say.

  • We refuse to through out food, we have a dog that will eat just about anything after a little preparation which saves on dog food bills.
  • Lately we have stopped buying packaged things as much as possible and when affordable choose organically grown fresh items.
  • We have material reusable shopping bags.
  • I drive for a living and between deliveries I sit where I am to reduce gas waist.
  • We use LED lighting everywhere possible.
  • When faced with a choice of make or buy we choose make such as right now my fiancé is making play dough for our friends kids to have a distraction while we help them move next weekend.

An article Scientific American described how US Democrats and Republicans make different scientific errors. Democrats were inclined towards errors of commission: raising concerns about nonexistent problems while Republicans commit errors of omission: denying the existence of problems. Climate change is an example of this dichotomy: the current Narcissist-in-Chief is an emphatic climate denier while Democrats seem united by acceptance of climate change. This can be easily explained by political inclinations. To overgeneralize a bit, Democrats favor expansion of the government and Republicans want to reduce it. The cures for their scientific errors require solutions to which they are predisposed.

To see an example of this, the NOVA episode "Decoding the Weather Machine" (https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/video/decoding-the-weather-machine/) has in its beginning a meteorologist from a conservative congregation. He found that his congregation's political beliefs prevent them from accepting the science of climate change.
