I've noticed that a lot of people are a bit depressed about the recent drop in Steem. While I also relish the days when my account was worth thousands of dollars, I also feel excitement about the current opportunity that we have. There are a couple of reasons I have for feeling this way.
The first reason has to do with investment. If you truly believe in Steem, now is one of the best times to invest. Considering that Steem was once at $8, we have an opportunity to get in close to the ground floor again. Even if Steem only ever gets to half of that (I believe it will exceed 8), you're talking a return of almost 12 times your investment. That sounds like an exciting opportunity to me.
The second and even more exciting reason is also related to investment, but I see it as something different. The potential upswing can be used as an incentive for businesses to get on board. A business with a healthy FOMO can be enticed by the fact that they can easily start accepting Steem and making feeless transactions on the Steem blockchain without ever signing up on any other exchange whatsoever. It's quick, clean and and easy.
A business (especially a small business) might be more likely to invest product than they are to invest capital. Sales from Steem isn't likely to make up a lot of their revenue. By investing a sale item here and there, they are getting a foothold in a game which their competitors are very likely to neglect.
As good as it is for the business, it's also good for Steem. Businesses coming in at this stage are likely to hold their Steem. Their presence, in and of itself, also brings value to Steem. Most of the early holders are eager to show their friends that our investments are solid. Imagine telling your friends that you just bought dinner with Steem you earned from blogging.
