From the very beginning, I was hoping that a talented developer would create a fast, responsive mobile app for the Steem blockchain. That day appears to be here with the Partiko dApp, finally.

Most people on social media use their smartphones to browse and post, so it’s a no-brainer to have an exceptionally fast mobile dApp for Steem. I am really surprised that this didn’t happen sooner. There were a few attempts at creating a fast, responsive dApp, but the user experience was pretty poor with the several attempts so far. I tried a few of them, then kind of gave up, because I came to believe that it wasn’t possible to build a fast mobile dApp with a blockchain. I was wrong in this regard. It is possible to build a fast mobile dApp on the Steem blockchain, and Partiko proves that.

After using Partiko for the first time yesterday here is my review, along with scores for various categories and a section for desired improvements. I used a 1-10 rating system, with 10 being the best.

Full Disclaimer: I used my alt account @umami to do the testing because I am always quite cautious when using new apps for the first time.

DESIGN: 10

The dApp uses a minimal design style which is very attractive and simple. This style is consistent with modern design aesthetics which basically express the idea that less is more. Most successful brands now employ a simple and modern design scheme. Partiko follows this trend, therefore, it has received a 10 in this category.

NAME: 7

Although Partiko is not a bad name, it also doesn’t sound great. The name Partiko is somewhat hard to remember. Partiko doesn’t sound in any way related to Steem, and therefore, I give it a 7.

USABILITY: 9

This dApp is incredibly easy to use and intuitive. You can tell the programmers had users in mind when they built this dApp because everything that Partiko does is related to ease of use. Pressing the buttons works well and it’s easy to post with the dApp.

SPEED/RESPONSIVENESS: 10

Partiko’s speed is amazing. It’s so easy to switch between browsing, posting, liking and commenting, and the overall experience is seamless. I didn’t experience any lags at all. Incredible speed. It is as fast as Instagram or Twitter.

FUNCTIONS: 9

The search function is Partiko’s best feature. You can type in anything in the search bar and it will bring up either account names or blog posts that contain the search query. Also, one other great aspect is when you click on a user, a tab opens up asking if you want to visit their website. This was a really great surprise feature. Also, you can use a vote slider to give a percentage of your upvote instead of the entire thing. I would have given this a 10 except I would like to be able to see the list of followers, and so far this is not contained in the dApp.

I also want to mention a few additional details about the creator of Partiko. I learned that the reason this dApp is so fast is that the programmers wrote these dApps in native Android and iOS programming languages. Sida explained that this is the reason that Partiko is faster than other apps. Also, it’s interesting to know that Sida is an AirBNB programmer, and this dApp is his side project. I think that explains why Partiko doesn’t take any profit for itself. A lot of apps on Steem take a certain percentage of the author rewards for their own profit. Partiko doesn’t take any, and this makes it a really good community project.

FEATURES I’D LIKE TO SEE IMPLEMENTED

The only features missing that i really wanted in Partiko was the ability to see follower lists by clicking on the words “followers” and “following”. Right now, those words are not clickable, so you can’t view anyone’s followers, not even your own. It would be good to add this feature in the future. Other than that, I am very happy with the features so far.

Special thanks to Sida for building this great dApp for the Steem blockchain. We appreciate your work. It looks like there’s an influencer program as well for Partiko, but I wasn’t sure how that worked. Maybe a tutorial is in order for people who want to get involved with that aspect.

I’m excited to here about this! Wasn’t aware, but I’m gonna download now.

Where have you been? We haven’t heard from ya in a while?!

My illness also then led to other dark tunnels, and depression has swallowed me whole again. Part of my illness I feel is self-inflicted due to my smoking which I had been doing for 3 months solid. I had fallen into my addictions again......and now I am paying dearly. This is what death must feel like...unable to breathe....no energy, listlessness.

It can feel like death. It’s not forever though, just remember that. You can’t beat yourself up over succumbing to addiction again . You’ve stopped before, you can do it again. You’ve been here before, and came out alive, you can do it again. Stress, anxiety, and depression are purely internal forces. If you feel like you can’t control those forces, then just leave them behind. Get out of your head. Don’t give your thoughts the company to effect you. That’s the only place they exist. Do what you have to to focus on something else, even if it’s only for a few moments. That’s a few moments your thoughts don’t control you. Just keep reminding yourself that it’s not permanent. This to shall pass.

OH GOD. I am sick. I got pneumonia in China, and I am recovering sSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWLLLYYYYYY. Plus working for ONO has taken up all my time.....but I miss the steemit community, it has the small town feel.

How is ONO going? I haven't heard much news of it since launch. Working better than Steemit, in your opinion @stellabelle? I'm curious because I thought I heard they'd open it internationally soon. If not, I'm going to China for a while soon so I'll likely use it either way alongside Steemit, especially if it has advantages over Steemit.

Ono is a baby, just over three months old and the app is in alpha, undergoing a lot of development. So the main focus is on the development of the app and getting some big technical issues resolved. Interesting to note that both Partiko and Ono reward user activity and I wonder if these two apps are aware of the others functionality. The User is happier when the social actions are rewarded so I think both are going in the correct direction.

I hope they also add “wallet” soon. And I noticed notifications doesn’t notify you when someone tags you in a post.
I hope they will add this features in their next update.
I enjoy using @partiko. Its very convenient. :)

Stay tuned for more surprises:)

Yay! So much excited. :)

You do know the more functionality that is added the more chances for the app to slow down.

I'll do my best to test the app out. I also keep seeing other steemians using the app.

Once you GO @Partiko

Never going back!

I am using the web app of busy.org for steemit and everything I do here.
Works flawlessly and smooth.
Also is very user friendly.
Far better than steemit original.
Why install an app when u can use a web app on your Android device (at least,I am pretty sure it's available for iOS too)

Notifications... You don't get native android notifications on busy.org and that can be a problem when trying to follow on a conversation for example

Posted using Partiko Android

Yes you must open the webapp to see the notifications but I am fine with it.
Keeps me away from unnecessary notifications unless I want it.
That's when I open it and check the bell icon where it displays the number of notifications I have. Pretty good

Haha maybe you should give us a shot!

Posted using Partiko Android

Indeed I would try it for sure

Yaaay! Let us know how it goes!

Posted using Partiko Android

Just installed the app.already in love with it's smoothness ♥️♥️👌

Posted using Partiko Android

@partiko I would like to know what I can do with these points please

Posted using Partiko Android

i dont know. I like trying new things, and dapps? I have used busy before, but didn't know it was so easy to use....

yes busy is pretty easy
try the 'place on home screen action' after you open busy.org from chrome.
it will place the web app on your home screen.
try it
you will love it definitely

I am loving this app. Super fast. And 100% working for me.

Good to know there is another app for Steemit. Will check it out.

Hola me gustaria participar ,me gusta mucho tu imagen ...saludos

Nice review. I'm using it more and more. Coments and reply section would be nice, to have the complete experince.

Posted using Partiko Android

yeah i agree completely. Comments and replies sections are needed.

Hi @stellabelle, cool review.

I've been pretty pumped on this app. It's the first time I've consistently posted from my phone. Clean mobile UX could be a game-changer for Steemit.

You've got a rad blog and even radder style. Thanks for featuring my vid

She says thanks. I’m just an android assistant.

I was saying something about this Partiko app in "Ruta Blockchain/podcast."

amazing post!

Thank you

I think I'll continue without Partiko app.
I'm using Steemit only on my computer, I kinda don't want to use it too much if I can carry it with me everywhere I go.
This way I can limit my time spent or steemit :-)

Best app ever! Many thanks to @partiko!

I just discovered Partiko by seeing the footer on people comments. When I saw it was also available on iOS I tried it out. SteemApp also has a nice and fast interface but it is lacking some important features like a search.
