NIGERIANS & POLITICS

in #partiko6 years ago

Politics is a game I have never liked, but like any other responsible citizen I’ve always respected the fact that a leader is a person appointed to lead a particular crowd.
Now in my country Nigeria politics is a hereditary occupation, I say this because as a child growing up the same set of politicians I knew when I was as young as 10 are still the same names running the country for some reason the younger generation have failed to take interest in deciding our future and we have left our fates in the hands of men who are clueless about how fast the world is moving while we decline.
Yesterday the 23rd of February 2019, My country held The Presidential Elections and once again the top names both candidates who have ruled the country both as President, Head of state & Vice President now the amazing thing is the youths in the country started a movement and a bill tagged ‘Not too young to run’ was passed and it gave opportunity to younger candidates to run, typically its expected in every sane environment for youths to get behind the youthful leaders that stepped up to run for presidency, even after debates and hearing them speak one could tell there was progress. Shockingly a lot of youths still got behind the Old men who have been running the country and the little who supported the youthful aspirants either failed to get their voting cards or refused to vote with excuses of being scared for their lives.
At this point I have lost faith in the system if we want to move forward as a nation we shouldn’t be afraid of taking a stand and changing things it’s been agreed that corruption and greed had a part to play in the elections but as a Nation we have the power to make a right decision next time because I know this is a lost case for now
Hopefully by 2023 Nigerians get it right hopefully I’ll be supporting the country from outside as I need to create a better future for my family. Nigeria We Hail Thee
