The sad state of UK politics

in #paymetoo7 years ago

Full disclosure- I'm a guy and used to identify as a feminist because I thought that feminism was about equality for both sexes. I no longer identify as a feminist and the video below illustrates one of the many reasons why. I still want equality, but i don't think feminism is after the same thing I am.

The "meat" of the video is where the UK MP Stella Creasy manages to say that the #paymetoo campaign is "not about women but about power" live on television and I'm not aware of any challenges being issued on this topic. That's around 10 minutes but the whole video is worth a watch. she consistently and deliberately ignores the facts placed in front of her and it's an absolute shambles.

I'm sure many guys out there feel let down, disenfranchised, ignored, even perhaps like you've got "non human" status. You're not going crazy fellas, it's real. It doesn't mean Women aren't facing issues of course, they are and no one is arguing with that but I don't think the feminist dialogue is helping either side work out these issues. What we need is some honesty about what's going on, honesty about what the statistics mean. Honesty about gender differences and acknowledgement that we can still contribute to each others lives. Anyway, I didn't want this to turn into anything in particular but I felt the need to highlight this video on the whole.
