Awesome idea!
One question: For someone like me living in Australia, or any other non US country, can you spend USD from your PayPal account? I know I've purchased things through PayPal in other currencies before, and been stung with an additional currency conversion fee...
Anyway, if you can accept USD in a non US PayPal account, this is potentially a really good service, and a decent earner for yourself too.
The only other issue I see is the 25% fee. I understand you'd be taking a risk, and there'd be a bit of work involved, but apple take a 30% cut in the App Store and many regard that as highway robbery. Great idea though!
Edit: I've transferred SBD to an exchange before, and bought bitcoin, but like many here, I'm new to crypto, and did these transfers just to see how it all worked. Now, for me the issue then is, living in Australia where the government would want a cut of your earnings as income tax, turning bitcoin into Aussie dollars is an issue, and there are no retailers here that accept bitcoin as payment (yet), so I can see this service having a massive demand.
You can add additional currencies to your paypal account. You don't need to deposit anything into it to open a balance, but you do need to open a balance before you can accept another currency..
Thanks for the input. I'm not sure about the additional foreign transaction fees. It is something I will need to look into.
Regarding the fee - most of it really is the volatility / exchange rate between SBD and USD. While I expect I'll be able to find a more optimal exchange if I start doing this on a larger scale - I just did a test tonight with $30 SBD and it was around $25 USD by the time I got it actually cashed out.
Interesting. I do think you're onto a winning idea though
