Payment processing platform PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL) has also broadened its horizons by accepting bitcoin -- albeit in a roundabout way. In September 2014, PayPal announced that it would begin accepting bitcoin as payment via its integration with Braintree. This was also the same month that partnerships with CoinBase, GoCoin, and BitPay were announced. I see this as being good and bad. Good because it will only be a matter of time before taking alt coins and bad because companies like paypal give more room for taxations from the local and federal government because of their centralization.
