POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION

in #pcr6 years ago

Polymerase Chain Reaction developed by Kary Mullis in 1980s, was one of the greatest invention of the past century.....
It targets a segment of a gene and amplifies into millions of copies, it is also time and temperature dependent.
Steps involves

  • Denaturation of the double stranded DNA at 94 Degree Celsius
-Annealing of the primer to template at 55 Degree Celsius
-Extension of the target sequence at 72 Degree Celsius
    PCR reagents involve
    -Primers
    -Buffers
    -Taq polymerase
    -Forward and Reverse primers
    -PCR grade waterPCR_tubes.png
