Pear in Gouache

in #pear7 years ago

As I was setting up my new series of painting, my wife comes in, plops a pear on my table and says "Paint this."
So, what choice did I have?
I painted it on a piece of water color paper I had primed with a neutral grey acrylic.
I used gouache paints, and started with the bright orange background first, then worried myself over the color of the pear. A little lemon yellow, some phthalo blue, and titanium white and I was good...

Great one, not shure, maybe of colors you used and outline, it remainded me a bit on Paul Gauguin.

Thanks, yes - it's the colors/lines/etc... my wife picked up on that and remarked that it reminded her of anime... lol... same , considering both were heavily inspired from Japanese woodblock prints...

@joshuadavis, oh yes Japanese woodblock prints and Japanese patterns, I entering that world also, it's magnificent :)

Very good painting! I love gouache too, and I was just wandering did you use very diluted wash of acrylic as underpainting? Because I feel that gouache does not stick well to acrylic paint.
