I know there's all sorts of justified ire at Adult Swim BUT I would like to point out that the sneak peek of the latest Venture Bros episode just hit with all sorts of #pizzagate and #pedogate references. Are they mocking the researchers or dropping red pills with pop culture? There be spoilers ahead for those of you who care about such things.
This episode is available online until September 17.
To make a long story short, Dr Venture invented teleportation. It's what's called a "game changer."
The B plot is that a group of supervillains are planning to heist said teleportation device.
His bodyguard, Brock, takes him to the OSI, where General Hunter Gathers informs him he needs to drop the project.
Because those who actually run the world aren't going to let that project live-- not when it'll put them out of business. Dr Venture basically says fuck off, and as a result, the OSI let their masters talk.
Those masters just so happen to be the Illuminati. As in, that's what the closed captioning says, before any character admits to it.
They invite him to join them. And to make the decision easier, they invite him to a party they're throwing that night.
He shows up, and it's an Eyes Wide Shut style orgy.
Makes his way to the bar and nibbles on an hor dourves.
This is what the bartender says:
I spit my drink out and did a double take, because OMG, did the Ventures just cover pedogate allegations?
Yes. Yes they did.
He gets grossed out, runs outside and heaves in a fountain. Gets asked how he's doing. Not so well, now that you're asking...
Venture asks if she's part of the group. How she defines it is simply perfect:
And I love that she's outing various industries...
She tells him to meet her in by the tapestries in 20 minutes. He's ambushed there, and offered a choice: The Lady or The Tiger.
Give them the teleporter, and he can have The Lady (who just so happens to be his unknown half-brother's wife)
Or don't give them the teleporter, and get ripped a new one by a bondagey-tiger-masked creep.
Oh, and his strap-on is straight out of Se7en.
Then they lay out the law of the land.
It isn't until the after-credits scene that we find out what Doc Venture chose.
And the very end? Turns out that it was a Matrix-like simulation by the OSI to gain Doc's willing compliance in surrendering his teleporter tech.
If I was to go all super analytical, I'd say that making it a simulation in the end means that they are buying themselves a bit of plausible deniability (and maybe the hope they won't get Kubrick'd)
