How to effortlessly join the Peerplays Crowdfund

in #peerplays8 years ago

Peerplays ICO started and they raised already more than 100 BTC, which is very impressive.

It's super easy to join with Steem too! Follow this guide and exchange to Bitcoin

The Problem

In order to join you have to send Bitcoin to the Peerplays Bitcoin Address.

You have to extract your private keys, and they will be used for proof of ownership in the newly launched Peerplays blockchain in May.

That means you have to extract the private key.

The pain lies in the detail, all Wallets I know use change addresses in the background.

So if your balance says 1 BTC for example, that 1 BTC could be split among 10 or more change addresses in the back.

You'd have to extract ALL those Private Keys to claim the full balance later on.

The Solution

  • Download Electrum and setup a new Wallet.
  • Send your Bitcoin to ONE Address on your newly created Electrum Wallet.
  • Send Bitcoin from Electrum to the Crowdfund Address

That way you only used one address, which means you'll only have to extract one private key.

Find the private key under tab Addresses -> Right Click Private Key

Note: You are responsible for backing up Electrum, so make sure to write down the seedwords & make a file backup.

I read, enjoyed and up voted this post when it came out. I've been thinking about getting into the PeerPlays crowdfund but haven't had time until today.

So I go to the crowdfund page at https://peerplays.com/crowdfund and they warn you to "make sure your Bitcoin wallet allows you to export your private keys" then at the bottom, they say "If you are unsure about whether your Bitcoin wallet supports the exportation of private keys, then please use one of the following recommended wallets:" and blockchain.info is the very first choice.

Well I had made a wallet there, so I go there and get a bitcoin address and send it some funds. THEN I go hunting for the part of the UI that will let me export the private key(s) and there is none!

So either I am blind or there IS no way to export the private keys. Checking with my friend Google shows a really nice UI procedure that let's you do it, but on an OLD version of blockchain.info.

Bottom line! I wish I had remembered this post! Now I will go the Electrum route and hope one can still export private keys on there. Thanks for this helpful article and hopefully someone else sees my comment before trying blockchain.info. Do what Ash recommends!!! :-)

EDIT: I just followed this guide and got into the PeerPlays crowdfund! Thanks Ash! :-)

yep... blockchain.info is a questionable recommendation for technical stuff like this in my opinion. there will be a tool I guess...

I have better solution. Don't participate in ICO.

well, that's your opinion.

I prefer the old saying - No Pain No Gain

You right, but it's not just opinion. It's also solution, and its really safe and simple solution. No pain no gain, but no headache later on, for sure.

YES! DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS CROWDSALE!

MORE SHARES FOR ME!!!

I'm happy for you. Enjoy.

Good solution. But for Android platform I would choose coinomi anytime, it's basically same with more features.

I have also reviewed the same.

yeah, or mycelium. but I'd assume that people don't hold their investment money on mobile... :)

Well than.. I guess... I'd take your comment until devs roll out to other platforms :D

Is the BIP39 ROOT KEY the same?

I am unable to understand your question. Can you elaborate please?

I was trying to find my private keys. Thank you everyone. I fell asleep. Please pardon me, for being so distant.

Found them. Ready for Peerplays to go live.

Thanks for the post!

you're welcome :)

Thanks for the guide:

Disclaimer: I am just a bot trying to be helpful.

Thank you, exactly what i was looking for. One question though: When and where will a participant have to show their private key?

once the peerplays chain goes live - there will be a tool to claim your PP

All right, thank you. Is there an estimation when it will go live?

end of May

i sent some coins by bitcoin core . but i dont know how i can get private keys from core . i just know that backup wallet file as .dat . so how can i get private keys from core ?

there is a console command for it... I'd google a tutorial

피어플레이즈는 왜 BTS,STEEM,bitUSD 를 받아들이지 않습니까?

i did it but i have 26 private keys . whats wrong ?

electrum adds a set of addresses on creation. you will only send from one of those though

What is enough the get a PP token?

?

No worries ash. Thank you. I finally have my keys. I also found out I got a tier 1 token.

This announcement post is signficantly overvoted by whales. For that reason I'm downvoting it. It is not intended as an attack on your or the post itself, but instead to serve as a counterbalance to highly concentrated whale voting. Thanks for your contribution.

BTW, if you wish to get more exposure when promoting some other product on Steemit, you might find the Promoted feature on Steemit to be useful, or alternately declining rewards so your exposure can be maximized by maximum upvotes from supporters without raising questions about being overly rewarded.
