The Evolution of Peerplays

In my last post I covered The Issues of Todays’ Old World Order Underpinnings where we identified various issues and trends occurring in generations today challenging the current ways business and government interface with people. Today, I want to share a brief on where Peerplays started and where it is today.

Peerplays began in 2016 with a core fundamental belief in the gaming sector being a high value use case for an open public decentralized blockchain. Utilizing blockchain technology that was advanced for its time, it has since developed numerous core functionalities that can serve as protocols for the evolving needs of the gaming and igaming sectors.

A Process of Business Intelligence

Combined with development took place over the last few years largely headed by Peerplays Blockchain Standards Association (PBSA). Research into the gaming and igaming sector combined with blockchain research and development have now provided the Association with unique strategic intelligence on the issues facing the gaming sector, along with the challenges that are best suited to provide high value to end users and developers alike utilizing the core functionality provided in Peerplays.

While many projects have taken what can be considered a short term view and approach on blockchain by creating centralized apps with some components of blockchain in the backend, Peerplays has always pushed to develop the far more difficult decentralized models that we believe holds the greater value in eliminating third party risks, and greater security for everyone.

Throughout This Period PBSA Also Evolved

As an organization by moving away from third party development houses and started working directly with developers either on a full-time staff basis, or a full-time independent contractor arrangement worldwide. Work evolved from being kept in private repositories, to a public community repo which has taken over the Peerplays project development and has progressed with strengthened momentum since. A Grants program was developed and further incentives to participate in the development work of Peerplays blockchain have been introduced.

Features unique to the Peerplays blockchain which have been developed include:

Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament which solves the hidden value dilemma in open public decentralized blockchain
Tournament bracket capabilities
Enhanced API functions
Decentralized asset marketplace buy/sell and auction
Bookie Operations providing prediction markets
Bookie Oracle System (BOS) providing decentralized organization of real world data
Sweeps Operations providing sweepstakes capabilities
Random Number Generator providing a decentralized Industry Tested and Verified grade RNG with API calls that integrate into various applications
Sidechain Operator Nodes (SONs) providing a general purpose sidechain mechanism enabling Peerplays to interact between multiple blockchain consensus mechanisms using its own Cross Chain Consensus Protocol (CCCP).
SONs support for Bitcoin providing Bitcoin to natively transact within the Peerplays network to be used within the various operations.
Scatter wallet integration
Gamified Proof of Stake (GPOS) new upgraded consensus from Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) which enables Peerplays users to earn participation rewards and have Peerplays operate as a Decentralized Autonomous Cooperative (DAC).

With Many of These Features Only Recently

Being introduced to the Peerplays blockchain, the potential for added features and benefits are now ripe for the ecosystem providing greater opportunities to developers and an unparalleled experience for end users.

New projects are currently utilizing these features and are set to launch in 2020 providing a new degree of integrity and transparency to gaming, igaming, and educational industries. The experience gained from the implementation of these projects have helped immensely in better understanding the direction needed for the future of Peerplays.
