If you have a pension and/or know someone who does or is supposed to get one, please tell them to have a back up plan. I recently ran into a fellow who worked for 35 years for a Supermarket chain. He was promised a pension at 55, now it’s promised to him at 65. He has had to continue working to support himself but man, I felt sorry for this guy.
Sadly, this will be the commentary across the country. Retirements that didn’t pan out like planned. The hedge fund went under, the dollar went under, dept swallowed the whole pension up, it will continue to be a travesty.
I have a cousin who’s a state cop, I keep telling him, “Don’t count on your pension.” And I also share what he could do. Does he listen? No, he completely trusts the state…and this is New Jersey! I send him countless articles and news, still, nothing. Oh well, “I tried to tell ya buddy!!!”
Maybe they won’t accept what we have to say, hopefully they’ll see we do at least care.

Cops in Texas are already bailing on their jobs en-masses to get a pension locked in before they all default.
Any pension that isn't fully funded is by definition a ponzi scheme.
And yes, that's the vast majority of them.
I know a lot of people take advantage of the pension process to make the most money for when they start to collect, liking working a lot the last year of their career. But on the other hand, good honest people were told that they would receive a pension and hence stayed at their job for decades. I hope people will wake up before the whole thing unravels completely.
