About Yesterday in Damascus

in #people6 years ago

Good morning everybody, it's almost 5 am here in Homs, yesterday I went to join my sister in Damascus and we reached our home less than an hour ago.

The trip to Damascus is always a bliss, you get that special feeling of empowerment especially for us coming from smaller cities to the capital, and the oldest continuous civilization on Earth.

Damascus is big and crowded, comparing with my town and the our province center Homs, I don't know about other cities would love to travel around.

Syrians are always busy and not busy at the same time, not sure how to explain it properly, but think of any Syrian and you'll find them doing one thing or another or few things at the same time. Even in leisure time we do not sit.

Most Syrians due to the current crisis are forced to work two and more jobs, before the crisis many Syrians were doing extra jobs because we cannot sit idle and we all want to improve our lives. Now the situation is different and more difficult.

I was so saddened to see what is happening in Venezuela, I saw the news while waiting at the bus station for our bus to come back here. It's exactly what the US have done to my country and my people. They put sanctions on us, order their servants to block our trade and movement, in our case they ordered Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, even Iraq, Saudi and others to make our lives so difficult.

Then they pay for trouble makers to start rioting and blame the government for shortages. Sick of this happening all over again, see Sudan as well, exactly the same. When will people realize this, I'm not saying that our governments shouldn't be blamed, they should, they should have prepared for this and ignored the 'globalization' completely and focused on their people. But it's too much to handle for now.

Anyways, about Damascus, we went to Tishreen Hospital, excellent doctors, huge complex of buildings inside the hospital, it's very saddened to see a hospital that needs too much security, but terrorists paid by the US continue to attack all our public buildings, especially hospitals.

The doctors are amazing, most of them are serving in the army as military doctors, men and women, I saw a lady brigadier doctor, so proud of her. She was wearing the white robe doctors wear and nothing in her office says she's a military lady, she was also so sweet and soft and a picture of her with her family was on her desk. She was head of a section. Can't tell much, not sure if allowed because of military issue, but I'm so so proud of her, she's an amazing woman. I only knew she's an officer in the army because her name and rank are printed on the paper she signed for us.

The hospital is not inside the city, we took a taxi and wasn't cheap. But I hope my nephew's condition will be better now, he was seen by 3 doctors all officers in the army.
