Yes, the title is correct: I wish they hire dumb people in Call Centers for large companies. I'm sick of very smart people who pick up the phone and have ready answers for questions.
The problem is they have ready answers but not for my questions, just ready answers for a set of questions they apply to most callers.
Here's my latest encounter:
Recently I'm seeing a loss of color in one of the corners of the laptop screen when I start the device, it goes after some time but keeps coming again each time I start the device, and it's more noticeable. The laptop I bought some time in November 2016 and was delivered only a month and half later pending a settlement between PayPal and the dealer who got completely confused between the confirmed order I paid for by PayPal topping up the price and the initial order when I first booked the device, and this by itself is another complete mess up by the over smart staff they hire who think they know the issue without reading my emails.
Anyways, I mentioned the issue with the purchase because I already had a problem with the previous warranty which was supposed to start from the date I received the laptop and not the date of the booking of the previous laptop.
So I called the Service Center's Call Center and I'm received by an answering machine that answers after several rings, it's a paid call and not a toll free one mind you, and the answering machine asks me if I know the extension number of the person I'm calling, which I don't know and was waiting for some options to select from and instead silence then to choose the language!! then after that the answer machine asked me to define which department I want: Sales, Service Center.... among others. I did call specifically the Service Center's number so that was just a waste of more than 30 seconds to get that section over. Then another set of options: Mobile phones, Home Appliances, names of some brands not including mine, etc... I selected IT devices. Then again some new set of options... anyways, that's just for the heat up of the conversation, if you still have some good mood after seeing some issues with your not cheap device, they make sure you get pissed off before they pick the phone.
A 'smart' lady finally answers. My questions were answered before I finished them:
Q: Good morning, I want to inquire about the timing of....
A: We are open from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
Q: of your service center....
A: It is open.
Q: Today, Saturday?
A: We are working today as well sir.
A: May I know the brand you're calling for?
Q: It's **** (don't want to piss them off really at this point).
A: What is wrong?
Q: The screen has some issues.
A: Your good name?
Q: ****
A: Anything else to help you with?
Q: Yes, how to check the....
A: You can search the location on Google Maps.
Q: How to check the...
A: It's on Google Maps or visit our website: www......com
Q: Ok, hold on a moment: How to check whether the warranty is still...
A: The service warranty is only for one month.
Q: I had the screen replaced earlier for one bad pixel on it...
A: As I said the service warranty is only for one month.
Q: But they replaced the screen and I want to inquire about the screen's warranty?
A: We don't offer 3rd party warranty, anything else to help you with?
Q: No.
A: Thank you for calli... - I hang up before she finished.
If she would have just listened to my inquiry in the first place without interrupting me several times the whole conversation would have finished in less than 20 seconds, instead it went on for more than 1.5 minutes after the initial 2 minutes struggle with the answering machine.
We need dumb people who can listen before answering, not smart people who know the answers of the questions we didn't ask yet, in my opinion.
