I was listening to this song by Patti Smith (People Have The Power) and I felt the urge to write something about it.
For real, people have the power, the question is where we use it?
Every coin has two sides, the meaning of this sentence has two ways of meaning, depending on the person. We have the power to change ourselves first, into something better – that’s one of the meaning of lives. Still, we tend to see people who this “power” they spend it only for making themselves in a worst place. Please, don’t tell me that it’s only weakness in people who do anything to damage their own existence? It needs short of power too!
People have the power be polite, to be good, to spare kindness…Some of them do, many of them do exactly the opposite. They use the power only for themselves, selfish sometimes, without caring for other people, and especially when we talk about people who have money and extra power, they don’t care even for the environment, the poverty, the people who lose their lives because of the bad situation at work, they believe strongly in wars that help them gain extra power etc.
As for anything else in life, it’s only in our hands how we will act. It’s a state of mind, it’s a way of living, it’s “the material” of the person, the way it was raised and many other criteria. The question is, can people change if they tend to use their ability only to harm people, destroy and be almost evil? Can people change if they are good persons, they tend to use their kindness to help, give and be an example for all of us? And who are we who can choose who is the good or bad among us, if we know only a part of someone’s life. Maybe we, people who have the power, also use it to gossip around, sow discord and then feel wonderful because the others – false – think we are good persons?
Where should we use or power? For the better we? A better world? Or maybe if we just fix ourselves for the better, everything “magically” will start changing? What do you propose? What do you think about my thoughts, do you agree, have more to say or even argue with them?
