πŸ’‘ Worth Or Not?

In today's blog I will present a simple method on how you can discern people you spend your time with to get more what you value in life.

People can be POSITIVE and valuable or NEGATIVE and talking crap (could be other combinations but let's stick with those). I bet you have probably experienced that in your life. The question is: who would you rather spend your time with? I guess, most of us would prefer more POSITIVENESS and value, right? "Yessss, bring it on!"

Let me introduce a very SIMPLE method that will help you deciding whether you should continue spending your precious time with some human beings or maybe not. Coming up next!

'Worth Or Not '(WON) method's instructions

This method includes positive and negative human traits, emotions, feelings, attitudes and behaviors.

Some of POSITIVE examples:

  • Laughter
  • Happiness
  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Help
  • Advice

Some of NEGATIVE examples:

  • Agression
  • Sadness
  • Disrespect
  • Complaint
  • Hate
  • Betrayal

Note: you can add/change given examples above the way you see it.

Now each positive above is worth between 0 and +5 (best), negative between 0 and -5 (worst). So it can be +1,-2,0 etc. You may ask "Well ok, but who is going to decide how much, for example, that complaint is worth?" And the answer is YOU. So let's get into it! :)

Practical use of WON method

Before meeting your friend, colleague etc. take (think of), for example, 2 positive and 2 negative aspects (that's how I do it but feel free to take any number you want). So let's say you meet your friend Tom. He's very funny and helpful dude but at the same time very frustrated and disrespectful.

So here you have 2 of each - funny, helpful is considered more of POSITIVE and frustrated, disrespectful as NEGATIVE. Now during the time you will spend with Tom you will have to evaluate how much of those aspects he gave YOU.

Let's say he was 25% of your time funny, 35% helpful by giving advice, 20% frustrated and 20% disrespectful. Was it worth staying with Tom? Give each aspect an evaluation and add them together to get the final result. So in my case I would have given: +3 fun, +5 help, -2 for frustration and -5 for disrespect because he really meant it on me even though it was just 20% of overall time.

Now by adding all numbers together you will get a slight positive number which is +1 and let's say you've spent 2 hours of your time with him. Was it worth? Hmmm. What if you would spend your time with people who are all about being happy, helpful, respectful and so on, only POSITIVE? Think about it how your life could be influenced in a better way, the way YOU want it!

I testify that this method has significantly helped me eliminating people I wasn't getting enough VALUE or POSITIVENESS in my life. Worth Or Not? Trust me, it's FUN! And it's pretty much like swiping on Tinder. Have fun and let me know in the comment how is it going. ;)

Sometimes in life you just have to get along with people irrespective of their traits simply and only because you want just one thing from them even if they posses all the negative traits!!

What is that one thing? :)

Sometimes it could be money!

as a deaf boy, i am very touched , you wrote a helpfull blog

Glad it gave you some VALUE, mate. Try it.

Hi!
You talk about useful people, not friends. You can calculate the usefulness of a person, but you cannot calculate real friends. True friends are not just a collection of qualities and characteristics, and friendship does not fit into such formulas. By the way, friends can sometimes be unbearable ...
But your post is interesting, so I voted for it:)

Thanks for stopping by, Mila :) You are absolutely right that friends can be unbearable. But what do you value from a conversation or a person? I guess each of us have different values regarding those. From my personal experience, I have eliminated some of my friends even though they were (are) 100% trustworthy because all I was getting from them was complaints and gossips. While with others I get more what I value which is some advice, information about self-control, useful tips on crypto investment and so on. I have started to value my time, because it is not infinite and that's why I wrote this blog so that others can too :)
