Bigger curation rewards in PEPE tokens when you vote for posts with a #pepe tag.
Powered up PEPE are not on the market so it helps the PEPE price by lowering supply.
It is a form of costly signalling which shows the community that you are a dedicated member. You bear the burden of locking up some of your tokens which costs you the opportunity to sell them which tells the group that you are willing to do something somewhat difficult to show your allegiance to community.
It is easy to Say that you are a supporter of the group but you have to Walk The Walk in order for the group to be sure that you honestly are committed.
