Few months ago, I spend half a year in a permaculture project in Malaysia. I discovered this place through the website work away (where you can find a lot of different projects looking for volunteers - most of the time 5hrs/day of work for free accommodation and food-) and that was almost my first experience as a volunteer.
This organization propose a permaculture course from the 14th October to the 10th November and will follow the design project from the 11th November 24 November 2017.
In a amazing place, for very low costs and surrounded by beautiful people, here in few lines why you should go to this PDC based on the island Pulau Bidan :
Why take a course in permaculture ?
Because permaculture is an efficient way to be sustainable : it's about organizing your lifestyle to produce your own food, respect the environment and the earthlings, to not have any waste thanks to a good cycle of consumption, ... Through many witnesses of people practicing permaculture you can see how this philosophy is well productive and in the same time good for our planet. The permaculture course will give you plenty of knowledge about the permaculture principles and how to put them into practice.
Even if you follow the PDC in a tropical island you will learn many tricks how to apply the permaculture principles in other parts of the world with different climates and environments.
The facilitator Stephanie Garvin is a competent teacher as she worked in many different projects around the world.
A wonderful island
You should not miss the occasion to follow this PDC in a tropical paradise island ! There are no inhabitants there except the volunteers and the people of the organization so you basically feel completely cut off from the stress of the world and spend your time with some chickens, geese, fishes, 2 meters lizards and other jungle animals. The gardens already provide lots of fruits and vegetables, you can just pick coconuts and papayas all day long, there are a few white sand beaches and a jungle to explore.
Well, think about a paradise island, here you are !
Course fees and accommodation :
Course fee Malaysian students : 1250 MYR
Course fee international students : 2000 MYR (419€ - 450 USD)
A daily food contribution of 20 MYR (4,19€ - 4,5 USD)
Return boat transfer to the Island 80 MYR (16,76€ - 18USD)
Your money will help with the project run by the organization Pulau Bidan Permakultur, which is I promise an amazing local project that aims to help the local populations and raise awareness for the protection of the environment.
