It was a year ago today when my dad was in the hospital for an operation, my family and I waiting for the call to deliver us the good news. And it came :-) The second operation in a short time, but he made it, and a year later we know everything is 'cleared' and there's no bigger chance for him to get The Big C back than anyone else for that matter.
A year ago today it was my birthday, as well, and yes, so it indeed is my birthday today.

I am taking my time writing posts for you guys, don't I?
I've been active in other spaces:
The live one, where I'm doing a study that's progressing faster than I can handle, as the subject matter is complex and the brain is getting older and studying just isn't as easy as it was when I went to university many many years ago.
The virtual one, where I got sucked back into some Ethereum projects, investments, NFTs mostly, which are paying off so nicely that they had to come before my time spent on Hive.
But Hive remains my home base and now the markets are being removed from chasing, Dopamine Highs and never-ending (oh wait, they always DO end! Haha!) all time highs it's time to get back into the comfortable place again of sharing some content here and there - and checking out your writings too.
Soon I will go to MET AMS, a Metaverse event in Amsterdam which I think might be really exciting, and hey, did I hear right that Roeland is thinking of another @hivefest again?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
This year should be the year of reconnecting again. And since I'm a sucker for real-life human contact I might even be more motivated to share some virtual moments again with you all - for me the virtual stuff can't work without the IRL stuff.
Ring me up (well, or tweet/DM/comment) if you're ever in The Netherlands so we can meet for a coffee :-)

The best way for me to break the cycle of not writing is to not judge myself for what I write and just jot some thoughts down. It's not much, but it's something. How have you been doing?

Happy Birthday to you and I'm glad your Father has recovered! I'm sure that's the best birthday present. Don't be too hard on yourself when writer's block comes. I've learned from thirty years of writing that our muse can't be forced. All you can do is schedule creative time and try to evoke the creative mood. The important thing is to make time for it because our creative souls need it to feel happy and it truly is sacred.
This <3 Thanks for your feedback on this. I also have a 'makers block', so I bought a huge leather bound book with great paper pages just to do some 'mark making' in order to keep being creative. Since the study is so 'left brain' I need to stimulate the right side as well in order to stay balanced :-)
I'm going to try to be more deliberate about it.

The studies are going well but it's taking up a lot of my head space :-) But still hoping to write a little more. At least once a week should be possible? Maybe?

First of all, happy birthday to you, it always feels good to see that you're growing older despite the fact that the perks of growing older often affects how well we can do, when it comes to things like studying or being mentally energetic like we used to in the past. I am happy that you're fully recovered and gracing us with your presence again. Of course Hive is home but this isn't a limitation to exploration. As for hivefest, that one might be tricky, unless it's probably foinht to be virtual again.

You're welcome, I think birthdays are those days in one's life where we tend to tilt towards reflections.
You should, but then, take your time because I feel you'll be rejuvenated especially when you are rested and feeling invigorated to come back.
Hopefully, one day, I can make it to a Hivefest and get to enjoy all those amazing adventure.

Sorry to hear you have a sick father currently :-( It's hard when we grow up and there's this point in time where you realize you start worrying about your parents... I hope he will get better <3

Thank you! In all honesty, I started worrying about my father a long time ago. He had a heartattack and then a psychosis, after his open-heart surgery, back in 2009. Doctors then discovered progressive lung fibrosis ( and gave him a 2 to 5 years prognosis ), in the Summer of 2018, when I had just left The Netherlands for Portugal.
Lately, I have managed to stop the worrying and to mainly enjoy and treasure every little moment that I have with him, even if it's a mere text message on Whatsapp.

That's tough Vincent! I currently study psychoneuroimmunology where we would treat your father as a complete 'system' instead of the individual illnesses he seems to have. It's tough though, to see your father in such challenges, I know how it feels, as my dad has had several 'scares' as well.
