READ: 2 Samuel 5:1-7
Key Scripture: Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying, “Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were the one that leads out and brings in Israel: and the LORD said to you, You shall feed my people Israel, and you shall be a captain over Israel.” So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and King David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel. (2 Samuel 5:3)

THOUGHTS
A day came when all the Israelites approached David and requested that he become their king. They tried to persuade him to accept their proposal, pointing out his achievements of the past and his prevailing abilities, the reason for which they unanimously picked him. It was as if they were begging him, and he was taking his time to consider their proposal. You know what it means to be a king in your community – the super benefits. These days, people fight over kingship because of these benefits, and they’re ready to kill in order to taste the power of the throne. However, for Israel, kingship is more impressive than the position of any president in the world today. A king of Israel was a demigod, and next to God over the people. David did not struggle for the throne but when the time came, the people came on their knees, clamouring for David to reign over them. Patience is the key. Let us wait for God’s time and that which he has purposed will be ours
