Does your cat care about you?

I think this is a question we hear very often. There are a lot of people who are saying that cats are assholes and they only care about themselves. Me personally I asked myself this question before adopting my first cat. I was very board when arriving at home after work and I felt like something is missing. The next thought was that I should get a pet. I was thinking that a dog is not for me, since I’m not a very active person. I wasn’t sure if the cat will be the perfect pet neither because I was thinking that I don’t want to have as company a selfish roommate that poops in the sand.

I watched a lot of funny movies with cats and after all I took the decision to adopt one. I don’t know why but seamed that raising a cat was something I am capable to do, even if I wasn’t sure that is the right thing.

One day I saw a tiny black cat posted on the internet, one of my friends found it thrown into the trash. I liked her from the beginning and the decision was made, I will have a cat. The next days were a bit scary for me and I was reading a lot of articles about what I should do with her. I named her Wednesday and I am calling her Wendy. She is amazing and she is doing a lot of funny tricks, like the cats I saw on the internet.

She started to give me a lot of attention around meal time and I was afraid that the people who were telling me that cats are selfish were right. I was doing a little experiment with her and I asked my girlfriend to feed her, just to see if she is still interested on my in this situation. The result was that she still likes me better. We spend a lot of time together and she is very happy when I arrive from work and I give her a part of my time.

The conclusion is that we shouldn’t care what other people say and stereotypes and maybe the persons who keep saying bad thinks about cats don’t know a lot of thing about them and for sure they don’t have one. My cat is the perfect pet and she cares about me and she’s expecting me at the door every day when I’m arriving from work. She even recognize the way I walk and she is staying at the door long time before my arrival. She is the perfect buddy and she doesn’t need me to allocate a lot of time for her.
