RE: Why should you keep a pet?

in #pets7 years ago (edited)

I had a pet puppy at a very difficult time in my life and she helped me get through it. Even more than any human interaction I had at the time. It's funny because she didn't say a single word but I could just tell her what's on my mind and then spend time with her, going for walks or just watching TV. I taught her lots of tricks and grew quite close to her.

In the two years that ensued, she became my closest friend. I remember a time when my cousin had come over and we got into an argument. He started shoving me around. When my pet saw this she became very angry and started barking at him and threatening to bite. I felt so warm. She was so protective/possessive. I'll never forget my pet. It's sad that I lost her four years ago.
