About my fur and non-fur children....

in #pets7 years ago

Since they will most likely eventually show up in posts, here are some fun facts about our "kids":

  1. Tiger, the dog.
Every time we take him somewhere the first question everyone asks is, "what is he?" Tiger is (we think) a mix of Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever. He is about to turn 7 years old.

We adopted him from a rescue at only less than 5 months. He was a pretty odd looking mix of coloring between his white socks and black stripes going up his back of light tan puppy fur.

Now that he is older his fur is more of that darker, golden retriever reddish-brown color. The stripes on his back eventually blended in with his coat after a few years, but he still has the black lines going up his face and legs. This time of year he loves to snuggle up on his favorite furniture, which is pretty much all our furniture.

  1. Pet Rock, the Sulcata Tortoise.
"Pet Rock" is a desert tortoise, meaning he lives on land and needs to be kept warm. He is around 9 years old (older than our dog!), and he came into our possession a little over a year ago.

He was timid at first, especially when Tiger was around, but now he boldly walks around the house or yard no matter who is around him. Tiger and him get along well enough I have been able to get them closer and closer for Holiday photos!
