According to pfsense.org, pfSense is a free, open source customized distribution of FreeBSD specifically tailored for use as a firewall and router that is entirely managed via web interface. pfSense was started in September 2004 by Chris Buechler and Scott Ullrich and federally registered trademark of Electric Sheep Fencing LLC.
Indeed, pfsense is one of the powerful, flexible firewall and router platform nowadays which includes of different powerful features such as:

- Multi-WAN
- Server Load Balancing
- Virtual Private Network (VPN)
- Reporting and Monitoring (RRD Graphs)

- Pentium II Processor, 256MB RAM, 1GB of HDD Space, CD-ROM.
- 2 Ethernet Card’s, Pfsense ISO file.
