PHC Top 3 Contest Extraterrestrial Movies!! πŸ‘½πŸ‘½πŸ‘ΎπŸ‘ΎπŸ›Έ

in #phctop3 β€’ 5 years ago

OooooooOooOoOoOOOOooooooo!

Exactly the sound I hear when thinking aliens, and I'm thinking long, boney fingers, scrawny body, humongous head and a light that shines from above.

But I also think about danger, horror, the unknown and death.

With these thoughts coming to mind so do movies and I must say I got a good mix of alien activity and the sights are unbelievable.

My top 3 choices starting with my favorite of them all:

Alien

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KUTaNMJJBa8

To be precise Alien 3 is my favorite because it's downright weird. We are talking clones, cyborg, guys with attitude, bad ass chics, ans the horror factor with added creepy creatures (screwed up living clone and that one skeleton alien weird thing.)

The actual aliens we all know (like in Alien vs Predator), are very well designed and a seriously cool. Black, sleek and built for speed, what more could make these creatures top all others? Why, it's their acid spit and second mouth of course! Oh! And in the 3rd movie, they can swim. They can freakin' swim!!! If I were an alien, I would choose to be that one. Although they follow a queen so maybe not...

Second favorite.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JOgQUGhI1P4

This one's for some great actors and great acting. It even has one of my favorite actors, Gary Oldman, playing the bad guy. Although the character he plays is strange, he still pulls it off.

It's got action, adventure, romance, comedy and even opera... and a sexy woman. Don't worry, for the girls we get some good eye candy with Bruce Willis.

The story ties with Ancient Egypt that takes us into the future where extraterrestrials live amongst the humans as an everyday norm. So what's it about? I can't tell you more, you have got to see it if you haven't already.

My 3rd favorite.

Paul

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kMsqHqKaFlQ&t=28s

This one takes you average grey up a notch with comedy and a bit of action.

The two main characters have some great comedy movies behind them (like Shaun of the Dead) and this one can be added to the list of great comedies.

We are always thinking that aliens would be speaking another language, maybe hostile etc but Paul takes the "out of this world" to something different yet is still out of this world. I really don't want to say too much about this movie. It really is a great comedy to watch. The characters and style of comedy is the reason why it's so easy to call this one a favorite. Get ready for some stomach aching laughter as you watch this other worldly kind.

Out of your 3, I've only seen Alien (the first one). For my entry, I've come up with 2, but I'm having a time thinking of number 3, as there were so many space or extraterrestrial movies there for a while.

It's so hard to choose! I look forward to seeing your entry. I'm sure there are some I haven't seen and heard of and look forward to having a good movie night πŸ™‚

I think I need to watch it again. Has been way too long!

Seen all the aliens ones and millions of others too. Predator is one of my favourites

Predator is definitely a really cool one. Although to me it felt like it was a man behind a mask and then some cool special effects. But it still was a good movie.

Three cracking choices @foxyspirit

Alien 3 is an interesting one. The original is one of my all time faves. 3 not so much. Having said that I think all the preceding movies are garbage so 3 is the last decent movie in the saga. Winona Ryder? She has gone on to make Stranger Things, I guess. lol.

The Fifth Element is a great movie. Like you have mentioned it has a stunning cast of actors including Ian Holm, the british actor that plays Bilbo Baggins in Lord of the Rings. The late Luke Perry is in there too. RIP. One of my family members is bonkers about this movie so I will leave the homage up to them! 😁

Paul! Simply, wet your pant funny! Seth Rogen is a voiceover genius and brings him, not only to life but one of the funniest, most interesting characters in recent (ish) movies. I love the nods and references to older movies seamlessly transitioned into Paul's life. The cast are amazing including Pegg and Frost who, lets face it, ARE the comic geeks that they are portraying. This will be my go to movie for a laugh for a long time.

Nicely done Foxy.

Gaz

Winona was young in Alien 3 but still did ok. She's a great actor in Stranger things I find.

I had no idea Ian played in the 5th! I can't seem to remember seeing Luke Perry...with the priest? I have to say, I'm sorry for my ignorance, I had no idea he died. I just kind of forgot about him as I didn't see him often in movies, last being Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

For Paul, I couldn't have said it better myself... Actually I didn't but I didn't want to say all the spoils either. Just giving the trailer is enough of a sneak peak πŸ˜›

But I agree, definitely a go to for a good laugh!

Posted using Partiko Android

Winona was always a strange casting decisions for me. That's not to say she didn't do a decent job, she is a great actress.

Ian Holm played the priest and Luke Perry was his assistant who gets killed off quite early. Easy to miss.

It's time for another Paul session..... Lol

She is strange. Loved her in Beetlejuice.

I watched the 5th Element again the other day just to see it and remember it all. I caught on to things I didn't before. Love it when that happens. It's almost like watching it for the 2nd time πŸ˜‚

Posted using Partiko Android

Great selection @foxyspirit of the three my line up would be number 3 for just good old fashioned fun and laughter.

Number 1 was a classic, good story line, great acting.

Alas number 2 not so sure I enjoyed that, a bit too much information, perhaps I had enough alien movies by then.

Ya the 5th element did have a lot of information seeking in it.

Alien does have a great story line and I like that they kept Segourney Weaver (not sure I spelled that right) throughout the series. Well that's before Alien vs predator of course. But in my opinion, if people make a second or third movie, keep the same actors, it makes it work.

Posted using Partiko Android

I've actually never seen any of those (including Aliens; I might be the only person alive who hasn't seen them), but I think I'm definitely going to hunt down Paul.

No. You're not the only one @wwwiebe. I haven't seen any of them. The only movie I've seen with what we feel aliens might be like was ET ~ A long time ago now but I still remember ET pointing to the stars and saying very sadly HOME. β™₯︎β™₯οΈŽβš–οΈβ™₯︎β™₯︎

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one! :) I like a good science fiction movie or shows (I loved the 2002 remake of Battlestar Galactica) but I'm not a big fan of horror/action types.

@wwwiebe and @dswigle Not a fan of horror movies either ~ There's enough in the everyday world that we're exposed to continuously. I do love the graphics and the incredible set-design and locations etc of science fiction movies though. And also love anything that has a positive message for us. β™₯︎β™₯οΈŽβš–οΈβ™₯︎β™₯︎

Sounds like some possible selections on the horizon? We would love to see you enter @allyinspirit 😁

haha! I am a virgin too!!! Well, except for ET!

haha haha Denise. I don't have a lot of time out to see movies and so anything I do see has to be pretty special. I did love the movies 'Contact' and 'The sixth sense.' β™₯︎β™₯οΈŽβš–οΈβ™₯︎β™₯︎

There's a few in the comments that haven't seen the movies but are well worth watching. Perhaps not Alien because you don't like horror/action but the other you might like. 5th element does have action in it but has a lot of other elements included.

Posted using Partiko Android

After reading through a number of the other comments I do think I am going to hunt down Paul. Everyone needs a good belly laugh!

Great choices @foxyspirit! I remember Alien terrified me the first time I saw it. Paul was too funny, both fun choices :)

That's what's awesome about Alien. Has any other for of alien scare you the same way?

Posted using Partiko Android

Hmm....I saw Aliens - the first movie and that was me! Now I've seen the trailer for Paul, I'd really like to see that. Loved the music in the sound track. the 5th element - something says to me that I saw it on TV...and fell asleep. I'm not so good at ET and scifi in my more mature years!! I'm thinking about this.... ;)

Aliens was good wasn't it? 😁

When you watch Paul, let me know what you think!

Posted using Partiko Android

Aliens: gripping πŸ˜‰ It will take a while before Insee Paul. Going to look out for it.

Nice selections! I always enjoyed E.T. But not so much Aliens.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Awesome choices! Paul is actually one of the first movies that popped into my brain when I read the contest description - LOVE that movie! And hubby & I are forever quoting The Fifth Element ("big bada boom!") so another excellent choice there. Also...

Sorry for such a short reply. I was getting ready for work.

I have to admit, she was cute there. Or when she eats that whole chicken meal while in the priests home.

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh, no worries, @foxyspirit! And yes, one of the most awesome things about Leeloo is that she could be so adorable, and such a bad ass - usually at the same time! πŸ˜‚

Paul is not one I recall ever hearing about. I might have check that one out. Thanks!

You are welcome! Let me know what you think πŸ™‚

Posted using Partiko Android

Nice ones! I think we kind of spilled the beans on our choices in Discord, but still fun to see your post with all your reasons why you enjoyed them! I think we need to watch Paul again. I am always down for some laughs!

I know I'm bad for that. I get so excited about choices and I can't help but talk about it lol. Yes I'm all for Paul watching. There should be a way where we could all watch a movie together. A PHC movie room lol

Posted using Partiko Android

Ooh, let's get @jaynie on that! Haha, not just music but now full on entertainment rooms in PHC. ;)

Ghostly and aliens and monsters not my type..
Eeee... Too ghastly for me.. ha ha
Give me witches, warlocks, vampires.. but Gotta be pretty and handsome :)

But that's what Halloween is about! All that scary stuff πŸ˜†

Posted using Partiko Android

Wow! You guys are way out of my league, I have not seen any.
Looks like a great entry here!
Blessings!

Thanks! Hope you get to watch one. Two are old and the last one is most recent ish. Worth watching.

🎁 Hi @foxyspirit! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

@dswigle wrote lately about: Treed On Tuesday With A Wednesday Walk Feel free to follow @dswigle if you like it :)

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide :)

@foxyspirit - I'm with @free-reighn, I've only heard of (and enjoyed!) the first one. But this gives me something to find and watch on our movie nights. I like how you laid out your choices and providing the trailers so we can actually see a little bit about the movie. Every time I have entered, I've used the table format provided, but I might have to try a freestyle one and put in some trailers as well. Great job, too bad you can't win, but it was nice of you to help to increase the prize pool.

I love me some πŸ‘½ series @foxyspirit, but the first Alien was my favorite. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Posted using Partiko Android

Very good choice, Aliens is undoubtedly a classic, very good by the way, all those conspiracy theories that aliens want to come for us really this issue is mine, I'm thinking of making my entry, but they are so many favorites that I do not know what to place.

Write all your favorites and pick from a hat? πŸ€·πŸ›ΈπŸ›Έ

Posted using Partiko Android

You know me, into my scary alien films... NOT! Haha, I gave alien vs predator and had nightmares for weeks so didn't touch them again. I can only assume they are great films, swimming aliens... yikes!

Paul is a bit more like it though, more my scene with light hearted comedy and Pegg & Frost are a great combination on the movie front!

Well done for writing this with Partiko! I'd go blind if I did a long post again on my phone :D

The only kind of movies that have a lasting effect long after the movies watched in the horror genre would be exorcist, devil, possession crap. But it really has to be good. I still can't get myself to watch The Devil Inside.

Now Paul I would watch any day! Love their comedy!

Posted using Partiko Android

I can't wait to read this, but I am going to wait until after I finish my post. 😁

And I can't wait to see your post!!!

haha! These are great selections foxyspirit, I haven't heard of Paul before but I'll remember to check it out if I get the chance. The other two are fabulous, I agree, well done!

Paul is a great view. The main characters are great British actors, you should see their other movies. Like Sawn of The Dead. That one might be my favorite.

Posted using Partiko Android

oh how cool! I'll keep an eye out for Sawn of the Dead! lol. Thanks foxyspirit!

Oh @foxyspirit .... you NAILED it. These are all awesome movies. I totally forgot about Paul. I almost put up Fifth Element. It's always a favorite, but has special memory with me.

Thanks! Sorry for the long wait for my reply. I haven't had a lot of time lately.
There was so many good movies to put out but I wanted to also show the people a good mix and as for a mix, these are my favorite.
