The phenomenon of a total lunar eclipse on Wednesday (31/1) will affect the space shuttle owned by the United States Space Agency (NASA), Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).
This happens because when the phenomenon arises, the moon is in its closest position to the earth (the perige phase). This makes the eclipse powered by sunlight giving tension to the spacecraft.
The LRO team also gave a statement regarding this.
"We get a small combustion on the engine in order to keep the spacecraft surviving in lighting for as long as possible, in other words, we make little adjustments to minimize the time we need in the shadow," explains Noah Petro, principal investigator Tim LRO, as quoted Seeker.
However, closing this LRO instrument is an extra form of vigilance to ensure the spacecraft remains safe while operating.
In the previous lunar eclipse phenomenon, the LRO that has seven well-working instruments is still working and collecting data on the moon.
The phenomenon of total lunar eclipse will be somewhat rare, because it coincides with the emergence of several phenomena of other universes.
The total lunar eclipse will appear to coincide with the supermoon, the moment when the moon is in the perige phase. It causes the moon to be in the closest position to the earth.
In addition, the phenomenon that can be witnessed in Indonesia starting at 18:48 pm is also in conjunction with the emergence of blue moon, the title for the full month that appears twice a month.
