Balut is a developing bird embryo usually a duck that is boiled and eaten from the shell. Balut is incubated for 14 to 21 days and it originates and commonly sold as street food here at Philippines.

This morning, somebody delivers us almost one tray of raw balut and we were told to cook it.

When it is already cooked, we were given some eggs as our part and my kids are really enjoy eating it but I don't eat balut even though they say that it is delicious. IMG_2559.JPG

Maybe it is not the perfect time to have a taste on it however, balut is substantially higher source of protein and calcium compared to a regular fertilized egg.

Thankyou!

Looks good, I will try it out sometime

balot is healthy, according to a site (I dont know if it's allowed here to post other website) it has calories for energy, proteins for building blocks in repairing and building the tissues of our body, balot also has iron and calcium. The key is moderate eating.

What?? you are eating embryo?? In our country, when there is any developed embryo in any eggs, we discard the egg as uneatable.
BTW, if your culture and tradition permit to eat it, then it is totally different scenario.
So how was the test of Balut?
