Rebuilding Marawi - once a war-torn city

in #philippines7 years ago (edited)

The government is set to allow 9,000 Marawi residents to return to their homes even the farthest barangays. The war zone still resemble ghost towns, businesses remain closed except for a few stores which have almost no customers as well.

Among the urgent needs in Marawi City are jobs and sources of livelihood some are enterprising. Power and water supply are slowly being restored but water still has to be bought. Authorities assured that they will provide livelihood assistance and small loans for the returning residents they will also set up a cash forward program for those without entrepreneurial skills. Authorities admit the economic plan for the residents of Marawi is still being finalized to make sure their future will not be put at risk.

Hoping that this is the start of peaceful life in the entire Mindanao esp the Marawi City. Donations were pouring out either local or foreign but the budget to rebuild Marawi is so huge that we need to unite and help each other. It is hightime for the call of unity of the entire Filipino community regardless of our affiliations in life, both pro or anti-administration - we need each other.

Many lives were lost, livelihood were destroyed but this will not hinder the Filipino blood to rise-up and continue its journey gearing towards the bright future. No one won in this battle, we are all lost and it will leave a scar in many generations - a great story of heroism yet to be told to our grand children.

Wow, maraming salamat po 😄

Has anyone wondered how ISIS suddenly appeared in Philippines and carried out their deadly attacks just after president called on the US to treat his country with dignity and not as a colony?

http://www.deccanchronicle.com/world/europe/210517/wont-allow-united-states-to-treat-philippines-as-colony-rodrigo-duterte.html

That was fishy. Somehow you have a point there.

@elizahfhaye We've been suffering from this ISIS terrorist group and others for quite a long time in Syria, we've witnessed all their horrors and we've discovered how they came to power and who is backing them since the very beginning. Those who were backing them confess but slowly and after a long time in which we lost a lot of our people, infrastructure and in economy.
It's the same old game the US plays using 'Jihadists' who have nothing to do with Islam except using its name while their main targets in our region are mainstream Muslims and Muslims from different sects who stood beside their country.
Al-Qaeda and all its derivatives including ISIS and Nusra Front are nothing but US-led mercenaries used when required by the US against targeted countries. The more people realize this more lives will be saved.

It's sad what war really does to a country - it only brings destruction. The communities it has destroyed and the lives it has affected.
