Hello Steemians!

In this post I will give you at least 10 of many things I learned so far in my life adventures. Reading this could save you from heartbreaks and frustrations. I also connected it to my steemit journey for it to be more helpful. Here it is.

• Be more confident.

When I was in elementary I was always bullied because I was overweight. That was difficult for me especially that I was just an average student who was transferred in the highest section in our grade level. My classmates were belittling me so I was to myself. I only overcame this when I was in high school when I proved to myself as well as to others that I have my own skills to be proud of and that’s how I realized that you should focus on your own set of skills because once you learn to value yourself they will start to value you.

• Listen to myself more.

There were times that I didn’t give myself a chance to listen to what I really want to do. I was busy pleasing others that I forgot that I want to try out new things for myself. Actually it’s okay to please others but make sure first that you’re pleasing the right people. Is there something that you really want to do but keep on ignoring because you are too busy for others? Do it now until it’s not too late and while you have the opportunity.

• Love my parents.

Today I really regret not showing how much I love my parents. I didn’t show how much thankful I am that they are my parents. I rarely said “I love you” to them. Especially now that I lost my father at a very young age. Guys, you’re blessed if you still have both of your parents. So if you’re reading this please let them know how much you love them.

• Engage into sports.

I tried playing volleyball when I was in elementary but I stop because I thought I wasn’t good. Today I’m really interested to be physically active. If only I tried harder, maybe I have the body and the discipline of an athlete now. Thinking that you’re not good enough? Well maybe for now, but to earn big results you have to make big actions and of course expect that there will be hard times.

• Play musical instruments.

Music is good for our soul. When I was in high school my mother bought me a musical keyboard, she even encouraged me to enroll in a piano class. I didn’t, maybe because it wasn’t my priority before. Growing up, music became a vital part in my life. My hobby is to lose myself in a good music that’s why I tried learning guitar. I know there some of you who also wants to learn a musical instrument. It’s not too late and I assure you, you’ll enjoy the learning journey.

• There are people who will stay with you for a short time but will leave a big impact in your life.

Well, aside from my father. I met a guy who I easily got comfortable with, our friendship was something that I will never ever forget how it made me feel. Our small talks, I remember every bit of them. Despite that, we had to part ways to work for our dreams. I even wrote a poem for him three years ago. Maybe I can post it later here. 😊
We can’t own everything that we want sometimes we have to let go. Did you ever felt that? Letting go of someone/something that you really like because you have to focus in your priorities?

• Intelligence is not a guarantee that you can be successful

Believe me, I know some intelligent people who are still unemployed today. While some of my not-so-interested in school classmates are in a stable job today. It’s not about “working hard” it should be “working smart”. Even if you aren’t that intelligent if you know how to catch and work for that opportunity it will make you into something. You don’t always have to think, double your actions. Do you have something in your mind? Do you want to write about a topic? Just write. Start now and do the work. I was inspired by @cryptoctopus about information overload. You have to use that knowledge by putting it into actions.

• Don’t expect too much

6 years ago, my 18 – year old self was expecting I could have a regular job today. Well, I do have a job, but it’s not stable. Somewhat different from what I was expecting. There are many unforeseen circumstances that could happen in a moment. So don’t think that you already planned out everything, waiting for it to happen. Make yourself ready for anything even the worst part. Did you write a post and expected it to earn more rewards but it didn’t? That’s okay now learn from it maybe you can try better strategies on your next posts. Look for steemit content that can be valuable to you. Yesterday I saw this useful post of @bobiecayao this is very helpful to improve your account.

• Connect with people.

I value my individuality a lot and somehow this hindered me to join interesting organizations thinking this will lessen my time for “myself”. But as I mature I realized that we live not for ourselves but for others. We are in a community and we should act like one. We are responsible for each other. It’s one thing I like here in steemit because we are driven by a purpose. A purpose not for self-interest but to work as a member of this community to help people with advocacies to grow and be heard of their concerns. Just like @Surpassinggoogle his advocacy made me realized that steemit is not just a simple social media platform. Steemit is a community where ideas for a better world are shared and put into actions. You can also join the advocacies of @steemph by registering here and choose a project you want to advocate. Cheers for a meaningful journey in Steemit!

• Ask for help.

We can’t learn everything on our own. If you want to know something don’t be afraid to ask. That’s why we are in a community to help each other grow as a group and as a person. Asking for help is not a vulnerability instead use this as a weapon to learn every day. Lately I've been wandering around in steemit trying to reach out other steemians. Join us in our discord channel here people there are great! Don’t hesitate to ask for help. There are many steemians here like @dreamily who are keep on posting valuable information for new steemians like me. I’m almost one month in this platform, every day is a learning journey.

These are only ten of so many things I learned in life and in Steemit. Some I regret not being able to do. But you know what’s good in life? Life gives you another day to learn and correct your mistakes yesterday. Every morning I really feel excited for the upcoming adventures waiting for me. Do you feel excited too? What did you learn so far in your life? How about here in steemit? You can share here your learning journey! 😁

Be more confident - check
Listen more to my self - check
Love my parents - wish I could but never knew them: raised by grandparents.

Engage in sports - umm...semi-check? I practiced arnis but stopped but I plan to take it up again.

Play musical instrument - planning to. I want to learn the Tin Whistle

People coming and going & leaving a big impact - already experienced this and I'm a better version of myself because of them.

I agree Intelligence is not enough to be successful.

I have big expectations for myself. I stretch and reach for my goals but I'm fine with it if I fall short. I'll just try better at it.

Indeed, connecting with other people is very important. When we connect and develop relationships with other people, we will have access to a treasure trove of knowledge and experiences that we wouldn't have known or discovered on our own.

I'm not comfortable asking other people for help and don't trust others that much. But slowly, I'm opening up and learning to ask. :)

Thank you for sharing your life lessons with us. It made me examine my life & experiences and opened me to new possibilities.

Hi @rainbowme! Self-reflection is an important tool for us to develop the skills we are capable of. It's nice that you're practicing it. 😊
