I am on my race to 6th month here on Steemit, and my journey has been like a rollercoaster ride with lots of ups and downs. It's never easy when you are starting up on Steemit if all you have is joining and writing. As we all know, Steemit is quite complex with regards to the functionalities and technicalities of the site.
The beginning
As I already stated before, I heard about Steemit long before I joined. I am on another website, a cryptocurrency community, so Steemit is not new to me. I already attempted to join but reading most posts back then were mostly about cryptocurrencies and about programming. Since I am less than a year on the cryptocrurrency forum community that I am in and relatively new to cryptos, I did not join Steemit yet. Things has changed when I saw a post from a Facebook friend, and I joined Steemit. That's the beginning of history of my Steemit journey.
The ups and downs
When I was a newbie, of course, I started with my introduction post, and look how much I earned.
My introduction post only earned around $0.09. It's just a short intro post talking about my blogging journey. Why? Nobody told me or taught me how to write a good #introduceyourself post. I did not even use the right tag. I just edited it and inserted #introduceyourself. Guess what? I am already happy with $0.09 then, and I even have no idea that it would be sliced into Curation Rewards and Author Rewards, and Author Rewards would be sliced into Steem Dollars and Steem Power. What is Steem Power? I don't even know what it is then. Why is there Steem? I don't know. I don't understand everything!
How about my second post? I wrote about Worms in the Chocolate Bar which was found on what we are supposed to eat. The earnings? Look below.
It's very clear that my second post earned $0.00. Some of my succeeding post earned $0.00 as well. However, upon tasting my first dollar post after a week, I was finally motivated. Lots of posts which earned cents yet, I kept going. Then earnings started to surge. Not too huge but I was content on what I was earning that time.
Self-study
My team somewhat helped at some point, but I did self-study. I made strenuous research about the terms, what are curation rewards and author rewards, what is Steem Power and its significance, and a lot more.
SBD and Steem prices
Steem-Backed Dollars (or SBD) value is running to $0.8 to $1 then. While I witnessed Steem price at a low $0.7. It started by December when SBD price went up to even $19 (the highest that I saw)

This was actually saved last October. As you can see the price of SBD and Steem then has big gap from its price now. And my earnings? Oh, it's pretty decent.
Look at my earnings and post, I never had any post earn $10. But I am very happy that time. At my level, it's already an achievement to earn $3-5 per post.
December earnings
December has been the start of surge of earnings. In fact, my earnings then went multiple times! As mentioned above, I saw SBD reached $17. That might look way far from the current price, but it's fine. It's normal since even Bitcoin lost more than half of its peak value.
Changes as the year started
There are changes when the year started. I finally decided to go on away from my former team after members seemed voiceless and was disregarded for every decisions made. I made an effort to explore and I learned a lot from it. I became part of different teams, and supporting friends from GCs.
Referred new members and supporting newbies
I referred new members on Steemit, and some of them referred new members as well. I feel bad at times due to my limited capability to fully support their posts, but I am trying my best to help them even unseen.
I am glad that my reputation already reached 60 and getting close to 1000 followers. But these are nothing without the support of fellow Steemians. And of course, one of the biggest supporter, not just me but for everyone, is @surpassinggoogle. All of these are nothing if not for his huge support to everyone.

Sinabi mo pa kaya nga inis na inis ako dito nong 2016 wala pa ako nakitang pinoys lahat puting unggoy na nag aawayan sa saging 😂 si st---c pala binigyan ako noon ng 10 Steem or SBD yata sinayang ko lang kasi tinapon ko login details ko sa sobra talagang inis ko at naiinis din ako sa mga posts nya sa kabila kaya hindi na ako nakapagpigil diniresto ko na bakit hindi na lang umalis dun at pumunta kung saan sya masaya ang hihilig nila mamintas harap harapan hindi na lang umalis kung hindi masaya wala namang pumipigil. Namimintas din ako pero sa likod or hindi ko iinglesin para hindi nila maintindihan hahaha :-D pero uyyy bait sakin ng @steemitdev s itesting nyo na rin #steemitSTAGE :-D
May dalawa sa top earners dito grabe palitan ng hindi magagandang salita sa posts dati ayoko pa naman ng mga posts/comments na may ffffff except kay artgirl natanggap ko na syang ganun hahahaha

Haha ito shhhhhh tingnan ko kung mahanap ko pa post nya parang sinasabi nya dun na ayaw ng blogs mo hahaha reklamo nya yun at yun na lang lagi nakikita nya sa bit, ayaw nya rin siguro ng mga isda at gulay ko hahaha (eh kasi yung 5/5 stars yun sa homepage hindi puntahan profiles at lagi yata sa homepage pabalik balik talaga yun in 6months yata noh baka ganun din gawa nya dito lagi sya sa homepage). 😂 never ko nga sya nakita nagvisit ng 5/5 star blogs ko dun eh yung steemit vs bit post ko lang binisita nya. Hater ni bit lover ni steem hehe dati lover sya ni #Tsu kaya nong nawala Tsu tinanong ko sa comment kung nasaan na si Tsu hindi yata ako nireply hahaha pinagtripan ko lang 😂

Aww. to think that I am not happy with what I’m earning ha? What a shame on my part. With your post, I would be able to appreciate na siguro and e motivated to believe in steemit. And @enjieneer has been a great help kung bakit we never had that $0 in our intoduction post. She’s a big help talaga, she helps whenever she can, now I know why! ☺️
