SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES has conquered the world like an infectious yet irresistable kind of virus, if that's even possible. It has dominated this generation, becoming more influential more than any other types of media and social platforms. It has even surpassed the influence of television, newspaper and radio. Almost everywhere, you can see people focused on their phone while browsing their social media accounts.
Philippines is not an exception. Social media took our country by storm. It has been both a blessing and a dilemma in our society these days. Of course, like any other things, it also has a good and bad side. But let's not focus on its negative side. We're here to talk about why social media has gotten the attention of Filipinos and how it easily became a part of our daily lives.
1. We love to communicate.
With social media, you can easily message your relatives and friends who lives away from you or even abroad. With Messenger, you don't have to buy a load for your cellphone and worry about its limit. You can chat with your loved ones as long as you can with as many messages as possible. You just need to have an internet connection. It has made communication easier and more convenient.
2. It has become an outlet for self-expression.
We love to express ourselves in different ways—words, art, fashion, etc. In social media, you can post anything to give a people a hint of what you're feeling today.
3. It's a stress-reliever.
Living in a third world country is no joke. The stress level can go higher than the buildings of New York. You have to endure an unbearable traffic and pollution, long and very busy work shifts, etc. Social media became one of the effective ways for Filipinos to destress. In SNS, you can see a lot of memes, jokes and relatable posts that will surely brighten up your day.
4. We love to take pictures.
Capturing special moments has been our thing since then. With Facebook and Instagram, it's now easier to share our special bonding moments with our friends and family and even our travel photos.
5. Positivity.
Aside from the bashings and bad stuff on social media, there's still a lot of pages meant to inspire people and spread positivity and good vibes.
Social media, if used properly, is a good way to share your thoughts and can become a source of entertainment. But everything should be used moderately. We shouldn't let social media dictate what we should and should not do. We cannot take it take over our lives. Most importantly, we shouldn't use it as a weapon to bring people down. It exist for the sole purpose of entertainment, communication and socializing. It should remain that way.
Let's spread positivity on social media and as the famous line goes, remember to: "THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK."
Very informative post grabeeeeeeh
I think in term of social media, philippines is quite the same with Indonesia. Indonesian love to communicate by socialnetworking, many even fight on social media, but when they meet.. they keep silent 😁
correct! may good and bad side ang social networking sites but still, we cant deny the fact that social media has been of big help especially when it comes to communication (makes it easier for LDR couples/family member working abroad) and faster way of spreading information, promotion and such.
When comparing steemit vs. facebook nowadays, facebook posts from users are full of bashers and hate 😂. Unlike steemit, we create communities that has a purpose and lesser rants.
It’s true! And we should not let social media take over our lives. Still feel free to go out when you can and not just do social media the for almost the whole day.
Indeed, iba talaga ang mga pinoy . Proud to be.
