I spent nearly an hour walking through this beautiful park. Unfortunately it was late in the day, and most of the attractions were closed, such as the Japanese Garden and Chinese Garden. But there was still enough to see just by walking around, The Rizal statue was a fitting tribute to Dr Jose Rizal, the great Philippine hero.
He was executed by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion after the Philippine Revolution, inspired in part by his writings, broke out. Though he was not actively involved in its planning or conduct, he ultimately approved of its goals which eventually led to Philippine Independence.
Now I know why people flock in this beautiful place. This indeed is beautiful, clean and refreshing. Aside from the fact that it's historic, it's also perfect for family outings and even just random strolling with friends. The sunset here is also a must-see.
