"(Giant) -- I did not come for her. I came for you, child. All things that live, die. This is why you must find joy in the living, while the time is yours and not fear the end. To deny this is to deny life. To fear this is to fear life. But to embrace this... Can you embrace this? You are stronger than you think. I came for you.”
― I Kill Giants
I came across this movie called “I KILL GIANTS”. At first, I thought it was kind of another fictional movie where a young girl is an expert giant hunter. But man!! I was wrong. The giants in the movie? they were metaphors. And you know what hit me the most? It was a story of a girl refusing to face her fears and pain that her dying mother might leave her soon. She created a world of her own, affecting her relationship with everyone else. She thought giants are going to take her mother and everyone else, but it came for her, to make her realized how she kept running away from her reality and that she can’t save her mother.

“A giant comes to the place and takes everything from you, and when it’s done it’s like anything that made your life good was never even there.”
― I Kill Giants

We are like this sometimes. Often, we try to turn away from our fears, from our reality, refusing to confront it. We try to convince ourselves that we can change things, that we are in control. We insist in going against the current that soon end up hurting ourselves and everyone around us. We end up building our walls too high to prevent ourselves from experiencing pain. But pain is a part of life. It’s part of the package. A package you have since your birth. Can you embrace it?

It’s okay to divert, it’s okay to just forget for a minute but don’t ever deny it for too long that you end up hiding the real you behind walls. I know, it’s hard to know when do you have to give up on something or When do you give it a chance? When do you change it and when do you accept it as it is? When should you fight for something and when should you just turn around?

"There are times when you have to ask yourself, “Do I want to live my life as a coward or a warrior?”
― Barbara Thorson - I Kill Giants

But I tell you, when you still feel like fighting, when God still gives you the strength to fight even a losing battle. Then fight for it but just never lose yourself in the way. The problem really is knowing when to stop and accept. You don’t have to choose, you should fight first then along the way you’ll know when you have to give up. At least you give it your best before giving up. When things get really broken try to fix them first before you throw them up. Nowadays only few people do that.

We are stronger than we think. Not because we are actually strong but because it’s the only choice we are left with, because if you don’t you’ll drown. Embrace life, embrace not only its happy moments but also its pain and failures. It’s a package we all must deal with. When you appreciate yours, you’ll learn to appreciate others.

The time is still yours know that it’ll end soon, so enjoy it.
