The Anti Dynasty Bill in the Philippines is stupid. You're stupid if you support it.

The problem with political dynasties has less to do with those that run for political office, and more to do with the voters. There absolutely is a problem in the Philippines with political dynasties, the problem does exist. The solution being discussed however just shows how bad our government (and our people as a whole) are at finding the right solutions to problems that exist in our society. It's no wonder that we are are a third-world country.

Essentially– we the people, are ignorant morons. Here's the issue...

The reason the problem of Political Dynasties exists is because as a people, we assume that if we were satisfied with the job that 'Dad' did, we must be satisfied with what 'Mom' will do, or 'Son' or 'Daughter'. That is stupid.

Look at your own family. Look at your parents, and then look at yourself, and your siblings. Are you the same? Do you have the same beliefs and way of handling things? Do you have the same strengths and weaknesses or are you unique? Chances are high that you may have been influenced (negatively, OR positively) by your parents and siblings, however that you are your own person with your own unique perspectives and ways of handling problems and successes.

People that vote for another family member simply because of the merits of their relative are ignorant and shouldn't be voting at all. You vote based on the person, their merits, accomplishments, and their stances on important issues. Not because you liked the way a relative did things...

In the same stream of thought, people that vote for the same person that their family does, or the same person that their religions organization tells them to, are also stupid, ignorant, and shouldn't be voting at all.

Vote based on your OWN opinions, beliefs, and stances on important issues, not based on what an authority figure tells you to do. You are granted the privilege to vote because YOUR opinion matters. Otherwise that authority figure you listened to that told you to vote for person XYZ would be granted multiple votes, and you would be granted none. USE YOUR HEAD, EDUCATE YOURSELF, AND VOTE PROPERLY!

So that's the problem. Ignorant people voting without educating themselves on the issues or the people they are voting for. Following leaders be they from their own family, religion, or social media idols. Because of this widespread ignorance and stupidity, it has proven a regular issue in the Philippines for relatives to be elected for positions and for political dynasties to form.

The Government's Solution – Yay for stupidity.

The government has realized the problem and their proposal to rectify it is to ban relatives of past/present officials for running for office.

Ok so on the surface and thinking like an idiot that would solve the problem right?

The problem however is that it is a bandaid, it does not address the actual problem, it's a stupid solution for a problem that is based on ignorance and stupidity.

What if the sister, son, daughter of a previously or currently elected official is by far the best choice based on your beliefs and stances? Why should they be disqualified from running just because they had a relative that was previously elected to office? It shouldn't.

The proper solution – Yay for intelligence

The proper solution would be:

  • To encourage education.
  • Ban bloc voting such as that of the INC religious group and others.
  • Require a quick quiz upon voting that requires the voter to answer correctly the stances their candidate has on important issues.
  • Encourage the voter to BE INFORMED!

It's an obvious solution for anybody that spends more than 10 minutes thinking about the issue, easy implementation, and does not further encourage ignorance and blind voting for which our country is plagued with.

Please I beg of you people of the Philippines. Speak up, Speak out, let the government know there are smarter solutions.

Do not support, and do not stand idley by as our country continues to strip more freedoms and rights from the people due to their own ignorance and stupidity. Write to politicians, form rallies, let the government know there is a better way for this country to move forward. Let the country know that we don't like our rights stripped away and ignorant laws passed into law.

It is time for the Filipino people to stop being so passive, to stand up and start talking, acting, and letting everybody (especially the government) know that they are making bad decisions that do not help our nation move forward, but just pull us backward and/or keep us stagnant.

It's time Filipinos, it's time to take off the rose colored glasses and realize that not only can we make a difference, it is our patriotic responsibility to do so. Accepting the status quo and doing nothing makes you a part of the problem.
