Cho Gao is one our go to restaurants in the city, basically because they are true to their asian flavored dishes, CLASSIC and AUTHENTIC! This restaurant is also one of the busiest fine dining places in the city, regardless of the day of the week, particularly after office hours.
The interior brings you back to the comfort of asian culture, giving you an ambiance that instantly relaxes your mind and body. Its setting is designed to almost all types of occasions from casual, fine dining to business meetings.
What keep us coming back to this place, is their long varied list of menu that will surely make you wanting to try almost everything, from appetizers to beverages it’s “TRULY ASIA”, famous words popularized by the Malaysian Tourism. 😉
STAPLE ORDERS: Being one of our preferred restaurants, we have our usual orders, that most of time are constant! Staple it is!
• Prawn Pad Thai
• Braised Beef Rendang
• Crispy Skin Peking Duck with hoisin sauce and steamed pancakes
• California Roll
• Banana Turon (of course from Philippines 😍)
During our recent visit, we decided to explore on their appetizers, main course, dessert and beverages. For beverages as mentioned on my previous blog, normally asian cuisines are best partnered with fresh juices though in Cha Gao they have a long list of cocktails, mocktails, sodas and juices.
By the way you may or may not opt to order starters since they are serving freshly cooked crackers with sweet and spicy dip.
So let’s prepare to drool once more! 😍
For the APPETIZERS we ordered
WASABI PRAWNS - crispy fried gulf prawns with wasabi dressing, topped with mango salsa
and
CHO GAO PLATTER - combination of grilled beef and chicken satay, vegetable spring rolls and steamed prawns siew mai with ginger-nuoc cham and peanut dip. This appetizer is ideal and high recommended if you wanted to taste most of their appetizers in one plate.
For the MAIN COURSE, of course we’ve had our all time favorite CRISPY SKIN PEKING DUCK wrapped in steamed pancakes with veggies and their signature hoisin sauce.
Instead of the Braised Beef Rendang, we gave it a try to experience how their BRAISED BEFF SPARE RIBS tasted. It is honey glazed beef ribs marinated in sweet soya sauce and 5 spices, served with steamed jasmine rice (Yeheeey 😂) and spicy vinegar.
We’ve also tried a new beverage called LEMON & PINEAPPLE ICED TEA. Based with green tea juice and mixed with pineapple juice, mint leaves, sugar syrup and crushed ice! It tasted sooo sooo sooooooooo goooood! I’m actually at the stage of perfecting my own version which I’ll be sharing here on steemit, so guys watch out for it 😉
Finally DESSERT, we can’t trade our BANANA TURON with any other desserts hahaha but we ended up adding another dessert to try what’s on their list.
LYCHEE PANACOTTA MANGO SMEAR. Not bad at all, it tasted good as well but I would still prefer Banana Turon 😍
If you are visiting Cho Gao for the first time, trust me on those selections I have identified above (that is if you trust my choices 😉), NO HARM IN TRYING hehe... I hope I was able to tickle your tummies again and activated your salivary glands enough to make you hungry! 😂
