Being manipulated into praising a certain perspective is so easy these days specially with so many media outlets advancing their own views while leaving little room for debates. Unfortunately even while aware of that, I do still occasionally find myself so sure of my beliefs/views that I am stubborn and refuse to listen to arguments or reason until I get to reflect on them at a later time. Maybe like you said it's out of fear of being ostracized from certain groups, but hopefully I'll soon be able to always reflect in the moment and decide objectively.
